The science of baking "anything" deals with a formula and part of that formula is dry heat reaction timing. Notice I said "dry" heat, preheating removes the moisture from the cavity of the oven and allows the internal liner to heat up to hold the constant temperature while the ovens heat sensors cycle.

it's ok if you bake food without preheat the oven. The food still taste the same. Some people preheat the oven just like you are using a wok to cook your food so you preheat the wok first before adding oil, garlic and union right.

So the food you put in the oven is exposed to the proper temp for the entire length of baking time. Gives best results.
Also, many ovens heat up only 1 of the electric elements to preheat, usually the top one. So if you put your food in while it is preheating, your food will burn on top and be raw underneath.

It is usually wise to preheat the oven because when you let food sit in a warming oven, bacteria can sometimes develop and taint the food. It is best to put food directly into the temperature oven that the package direction suggests for optimum cooking time and safety of the food.

Basically, pre-heating brings the oven to a steady temperature so whatever you are making isn't over or under cooked. It is especially helpful when baking something. The oven heats up at a high temperature and then evens out to whatever temp you have it set at. Thus, if you have the oven set for 300, temperatures may go higher until that temperature is reached and then drop down to correct temp.

Pre-heating an oven just allows the food to be cooked more evenly. Also the oven is hot when you put they food in there allowing you to cook immediately instead of waiting for the oven to heat up. I'm sure its fine however you do it but i know its not about loss of nutrition!!!

no It tells you to preheat the oven because it won't take as long to cook.Because the oven is already warm. The oven is at the temp.it needs to be to cook the food.

It takes the food longer to cook. No loss of nutrition. No difference in taste or how food looks. You can't accurately time because you don't know when the food actually begins to cook. If you are a regular baker, you will know anyway when your food is done without timing. I usually do not preheat. Have no problems.

It will tend to make things dry, because the food is sitting in the oven as it heats up.
