Why do people want to be police officers?

specifically, what are your reasons and goals for pursuing to be a police officer?

Sense of accomplishment and doing something meaningful. Not just working for a paycheck.

To serve the people by properly enforcing the laws must be the primary reason for being a police officer.

Everybody has different reasons to work for the most under paid and very under appreciated police force. My reason was to follow in my fathers footsteps and become a patrol officer and then work either in S.W.A.T or Wildlife and Fishery. I don't work for the money because they don't pay crap but i do work for the people and i will help them when they need me. For now i work in the jail but i will work up to patrol and be the cop that people want to see and not what you actually do see.

You get to really make a difference in your community.
While some parts are very difficult, most of the job is very rewarding.

I wanna catch criminals because they piss me off. That's really about it, just get rid of crime. Not to mention the cop cars here look cool. xD
