If you remove an authorized user from your account, it will stop reporting on their credit reports.

It depends. If they're just an authorized user, the card shouldn't be affecting their credit in the first place. While it will show on their credit report as a card that they are in possession of, it won't cause their credit score to go either up or down. It will also not count against their total amount in debt. In this instance, it won't make any difference if you take them off.

If they are a joint cardmember, you'll probably have to sign something to remove them, first of all. Because a joint cardmember is equally liable for the account just as you are, so it shows up in their credit and counts against their overall total debt. In this instance, if you remove them, if they've had a lot of debt and you take them off, their credit rating will go up (they now have less debt). If they didn't have a lot of debt in the first place and you take them off, their credit rating will go down (they no longer have access to as much money and can't basically prove themselves capable of handling debt).

It shouldn't affect their score, it should just take that card off of their credit report. It's usually good for them, because any outstanding debt on that card, will also be shown as their debt on the credit report.
