I think they were a little harsh as well and I'm not on the JR bandwagon. But from what I've been able to read on the situation Nascar laid it out for all the teams that if they were caught tampering with the COT the penalties would be harsh so it sounds like for a change they are actually being fair.

I think the fine was very harsh. He didn't do any better or worse than he usually does, so this so called "cheating" didn't help him. I can see the fine being that big if he would have actually won the race, but he came in 8th. NASCAR did fine Jr. $10,000.00 and 25 points back in 2004 for cussing on TV, so NASCAR doesn't seem to favor him since they have no problem fining him.

They said on Fox Saturady that the maximum penalty for screwing with the wing would be 100 points and/or $100,000. The fine annd points was warrented, however I think that Eury should hace only gotten a four race suspention.
The kicker will come if Jr. misses the chase by less than 100 points, the beer can will come flying at Mike Helton.

I think the penalty was a bit much. Jr docked 100 pts and Tony Eury fined $100,000. But then, should junior run good in the next race or two, and finish well he might be able to make up the points.

not fair definitely harsh...they said on espn that Jr and Jr probably knew nothing about the wing issue...it did not help the car so why the big brouhaha??? the powers that be at nascar are losing their collective minds

I think the Jr Nation fans need to quit throwing beers and respond by boycotting NASCAR and their Sponsor. Jr Nation should change phone providers from Sprint Nextel to some other provider. Also Don't go to the races and look at the empty seats. Show NASCAR that they are not GOD. I'm sick of Nascar. The only reason I still watch it is to watch Dale Jr. Race. NASCAR doesn't want Jr to succeed that is why they make up rules toward him. He's the only driver they put a lap down for speeding down pit road. Yep - NEW RULES for Dale Jr.
Everyone drop your Sprint and Nextel accounts and save you Bud and laugh back at NASCAR.
JR NATION strike back!

No, the penalty was not fair - Waltrip used JET FUEL - Eury used a bracked that they used in testing the COT - Get REAL. AND I still think T was sitting on the judges shoulder that passed on the penalty. YES I think his announcement had something to do with it.
