I came home from karate class tonight to find my stove, a/c, and hot water not working. I went outside and checked, and all of those fuses have been stolen right out of the fuse box. Someone also turned the gas off (it wasn't the gas company, I'm paid up) and stole some stuff off my electric box outside. Nothing was disturbed inside, but it sucks that my stove, hot water and a/c doesn't work. Those fuses are expensive to replace. It had to have been a neighbor. I called the police and they said they'd send someone but since it's not an emergency they didn't know how long it would be. It's been like 45 min. and they still aren't here. Do you think they took me seriously? I did get robbed! But it was more of a nuisance robbery.

shdwkat2, you must not have read my question all the way through. I said the only things that were off were my stove, a/c and my hot water-I didn't say nothing about electricity or having NO power. So there smart as*!

Cgiv, You don't know me at all because if you did you would know that I never ask questions just for the sake of "having fun" with people. I think trolls are stupid and juvenile. I don't care if you don't believe me you can go back to whatever it was you were doing before you answered my question "Mr. I used to be a police officer so I think I know everything."

Actually, you didn't actually get robbed. Your place was burglarized. There is a distinction in the law. If you were actually robbed, the police would have been there because of the force that had been used. But in this case, if the police are really swamped on other calls, and since no one was hurt, it unfortunately does get placed on the back burner. I feel bad for you because I know you still feel like a victim (and you are still a victim). I'm sure the cops took you seriously, and I'm sure they'll eventually show up to take your report. They must be busy. But they are human too. If they don't get there soon, I would make another call to see if someone is on their way.

If you were being attacked you would like the police to arrive right away, which means you would want the police to ignore a minor robbery to protect you.
You have had a minor robbery, and while it is a hassle for you, it can take hours before the police arrive (45 minutes is pretty good, try getting a plumber in less time).
When they arrive they won't really put a lot of effort into gathering evidence, because in cases like this there is little that they can do. In fact it sounds like some teenagers playing a joke (look around you might find the fuses somewhere near) or a neighbour that you have a dispute with (but handle that nicely, because if they police go and accuse them, they will hate you more, especially if they did nothing).

Serena, I know you're having fun with us, so I'll play along. You can't rob a house, only a bank. If this did happen, it would be considered theft from building. The average person doesn't have the equipment to turn off your gas. Fuses, aren't those collectors items?.

There are cities where they won't come out for something like that... if they don't, go into the police station in the morning and file a report. Otherwise nothing will be done about it!

More like Harassment. Someone doesn't like you very much. I new a electrician that if you pissed him off he would go by your house on Friday Night and remove the electric meter and dispose of it. Try getting your power turned back on a weekend.

As soon as the officers handle the shooting, the assault with a deadly weapon, the domestic violence, and the traffic accident calls they have been assigned, they will be right over to take a report for your stolen fuses.

They will show. It's tough, but you need to be patient. Sounds to me like someone wanted the copper wiring on the outside of your house to sell.

police are useless. without hard evidence or if it aint life & death matter, they usually dun bother. End of the day, even if they do come back, they probably just take your statement (just in case they caught the thief doing the same deed somewhere or at your house AGAIN) and be gone for good. then they probably mail u a letter stating that "due to insufficent evidence, we could not find the theif who did this."
So wat u can probably do "next time" is take matter into your own hands (gun the b@st@rd down or install a cam) or forget about it.

More of a reason for EVERY honest person to take responsibility and arm themselves. You have no idea how easily it could have ben to come home to find a criminal IN your house, waiting to rape, torture, or kll you. ARM YOURSELF DEFEND YOURSELF FROM PEOPLE WHO MEAN YOU HARM.

And yet in a house that has no power to it, you get online and write to Yahoo answers instead of CALLING THEM AGAIN!
Gee, they must have missed the laptop, huh?
