My parents were totally excited when I first starting going out with my current boyfriend. Mostly because they hated my ex. Now that they see me getting to enjoy more things in life I feel like they are sorta jealous. My dad has even commented to me that I am better then him now. I totally don't feel this way and it's like my dad doesn't even give my boyfriend a chance and my boyfriend can tell. My boyfriend doesnt deserve this and neither do I but what do we do?

You can't do anything other than try to not let it bother you. You haven't done anything wrong and you found happiness and love. Keep in mind you can't control others' emotions. You can only control how they effect you.

My first question to you would be why are you referring to your family as "lower class"? Last time I looked there is only one class of people here in the US. We don't have Kings or Queens or refer to anyone as HRH. Sure, some people make more money. Some people are immigrants, some are even illegal immigrants....but that doesn't make them "lower class" . Lower income....people will less education....people who work in offices, drive buses, work in restaurants....we are all the same. We all bleed red. Maybe you should look at how you are treating and referring to your family then you might understand what the problem really is. I have a feeling it is more your attitude and your family is reacting to you.

Most parents would be thrilled that your getting some things in life you never got before. Your parents are being selfish snobs and not caring how you feel at all. You dont say if your living at home with parents or how old you are. If your on your own limit contact with your parents until they decide to grow up. Meanwhile enjoy your boyfriend.

if they resent it then thats their problem. maybe talk to them and tell them that dating this guy is not going to make you forget where you came from or what you have. but you need to also tell them that they have no right to disrespect your bf as long as he treats you well. you have to make you happy.
