We are moving into a new house and there is an apartment-like room over the garage. Now, the garage isn't attatched to the house. My mom doesn't think I'm mature and responsible enough to have my own house. Honestly, I am. I do my own laundry, my own dishes (by hand when we have a dishwasher because I'm OCD and its kinda annoying eating off dishes my "family" touched with their hands). I actually do things properly. I can organize the laundry properly where as my mom just throws it all in there (silk panties with dark blue jeans and black towels) I've asked her SOOOOOOOOOO many times to not do my laundry. Me and my mom don't get along at all. On Mother's Day we spent the whole day fighting. If you knew some one on menopause, you would understand. Anyways she says I don't do my own laundry or unload the dishes or feed the cat, this is always because she comes in and does it while I'm sleeping. Unfair, right? Whatever. Now you know the whole situation and where I stand, what could I do?

It's not an apartment, it's a room over the garage. She asked my dad and he said no. The only time he ever takes his decision into consideration is when it's the same as his.

how old are you? that makes a difference. you can be as responsible/OCD as anything, but if you are a teenager, you need to be in the house. plus, carbon monoxide deaths happen in above-garage apartments a lot.

You should stay in the house with your family and wait until you get older to move to the apartment. You are way too young right now, regardless of what you do or don't do in the house. What if you were sleeping one night and someone broke in and raped and/or killed you? How do you think your parents would feel by letting you have your way? When you have kids of your own, you will fully understand their concern. You have lots of time to get a place later.
And if you know your mom is going through menopause, why aren't you trying to get along with her more? I can guarantee you, menopause isn't fun so educate yourself on menopause (one day you will need to know those things anyway), be kinder to her and bite your tongue rather than argue with her and be more sympathetic to her problems.
BTW, I can't stand laundry done that way either so you do have that part right :)

14 years old is too young to live independently, even if it is a garage apartment right on the same property as your parents' home.
follow their rules until you're old enough to make your own decisions.
by the way, women aren't "ON" menopause...it's something a woman goes through -- it's the time of life where the menstral cycle comes to an end, and some women experience drastic hormonal changes..
you can probably look this up on line, since, someday YOU TOO will go through menopause and be unbearable. it's truly not an easy time of life for some women... fortunately, it didn't really bother me.
take care.

i think of you will desire to verify with pupil amenities as they'd no longer enable canines in pupil apartments. Or if that could be a private condominium then verify with your landlord. individually i do no longer think of a canine would desire to be saved in an place of living in any respect. Why do you will desire to commute long classes with it? I propose you wait until you have executed your analyze and function have been given a activity and a house with a backyard. then you definately can savour your canine thoroughly. Vets costs can doubtlessly fee the earth and that i think of canines would desire to have the skill to bypass exterior oftentimes.

If you are an adult, apartment away. But if you are a teen, listen to your parents and don't think you'll succeed in convincing them of anything. As you get older, you'll realize your mom is a very smart person. As a teen, you think they are dumb, but once you hit 19 or 20, you realize your parents have a lot of sense.

You don't say how old you are. I'm sure they'd be too worried about you right now to let you do it.
