Short answer is "yes" you can be medically discharged. It does'nt mean you WILL be though. It'll depend alot on the specifics. The biggies will be: how long will the condition be there? If temporary, how long till you're "cured"? and in the meantime: What duty tasks can you perform till the treatment's done?
A short term "code" issued by a clinic like the TMC (troop medical ctr) Won't be a big deal. If they've got to send you to the base hospital, or (worse) an off post V.A. medical post, you'll likely have to face a medical review board. They'll determine what to do based on the issues I mentioned (and more) and weight them against options: Medical discharge? Light duty, while in treatment?, or Option of a medical discharge. Keep in mind that even if you're able to stay in, one's medical details resulting can have limits placed on where/what you're able to do while serving. (ie: -me- Knee injury prohibits being on active 'Airborne' status) good luck to ya!
The question strikes kinda close to home. A line of duty dillemma and board decision forced me to choose: Transfer to Reserves, during treatment at a V.A. facility, or medical discharge????

The Medical Corps will determine whether or not you can be medically discharged for hip problems. Refer your problem to the Military Doctor for appropriate action.
