I have to do a paper on bulimia for my social science class. To be honest I tried to make myself throw up and it almost feels like I can touch my epiglottis...I was just wondering if it could be and if it can hurt bulimics on a long term
Thanks much!

sarah, with effort epiglottis can be touched. it is the gag reflex from the throat that cause vomiting, this is why you may have noticed a similar feeling when the doctor was examining your throat with a tongue depresser. what hurts bolimics is the weight loss which is unfortunately intentional, damage to teeth enamel from repeated acidic vomitings, risk of aspiration pneumonia which they don't realise and lots of malnutition problems since they throw up so many things, good luck
