A year ago I bought my grandmother, who barely gets by on Social Security, a car. My uncle, who is 45, recently divorced from his wife and has custody of their two children. He has always been sort of a deadbeat, working part-time dead-end jobs his entire life (video store, grocery store, etc.) He still works at a grocery store, but only 30-35 hours a week. His 2001 ford taurus broke down in DECEMBER, (bad alternator, that is all) and he has yet to fix it...so he has all but aqucistioned my grandmothers car, that I bought FOR HER USE, and not only that, but he has trashed its interior and has been smoking in it. Every time I ask her how his car repair is going, there always some reason or another that delays him getting his own car back...he has the money...he recently got a large tax return and did he fix his car? NO. He bought a computer. I AM LIVID. everytime I try to talk to my grandma, she just replies, "hes my kid". She can't say no. What do I do?

I should mention that he will not talk to me if I try to confront him. In the past he just stood in the corner and ignored me.
I feel like the only to get his attention is to do so physically...not my ideal choice

Hi... i can see how the situation where your grandmother is being used might bother you...

your grandmother says "he's my kid"... and that is how it goes. sometimes people give and give and get used over and over again, because they love their kids. this can be the equivalent of insanity, but that's life.

the issue here is YOU are upset because the uncle is using a car which you purchased for grandmother. it's HER car now, not yours. unfortunately, she can do with it what she will...

from now on, don't give people gifts you don't wish them to use freely. there's no other solution or answer i can think of at the moment.

i don't blame you for being offended. although, if she chooses to be stupider than a doorknob, there isn't lots you're able to do approximately it. it is in her call. Lesson. do not purchase your grandmother something you do not choose your uncle applying. It hurts, yet what are you able to do? We had an identical situation with my grandmother and step-grandfather. deliver her money for groceries and he took it and drank it. in the present day, of path, we could have had internet groceries sent, yet that wasn't an decision then. It became into so unhappy.
