I think you should try and excell at whatever you find you passion in. Also try running if you work hard enough at running you can get better and mabey even be the best. There is not really too much natural talent, just the will to do better and pratice hard.

Jorge, You're doing fine. Many people don't have nearly as much figured out yet. I have to admit, I'm 47 years old and I still don't know what I want to do either. I was in the same boat when I was your age. I never really excelled at anything. But I can honestly say, that through it all, I never stood behind the counter for more than a week. Go out and try a few things, give them your best shot and see how it turns out, and move on, you will find something you like, maybe not at first, but it WILL happen. I've had 3 great jobs so far in my life, one I stuck with for 16 years and made enough money to raise my family and 2 children with. Life is always changing out there, There are a lot of people out there that thought they really knew what they wanted to do, spent 4 years going to college to get the job they wanted, only to find out they couldn't get the job, or worse, didn't like the job at all after they did get it. You can make really good money in a lot of very interesting fields. I have worked in Factories, Warehouses, and Construction, as well as Auto dealerships and restaurants. I decided to get into computers, Mainly because I enjoy them so much, and enjoy even more, helping others who really need the assistance. You WILL find your place, but like Dating, better to play the field before you decide. Good luck. not that you'll really need it.

Hey, don't be so hard on yourself. Lots of parents would feel so relieved with their kid bringing home your above average grades. The fact that you even care about your grades and are thinking about you future gives you a leg up on a ton of high school students. I retired from a staffing company, and I had files full of people with degrees that I could not place in a suitable job. Why? Because they would come off in interviews like they knew it all, or even worse, like they didn't give a crap. You seem modest, and you show you care about your future enough to get on here and ask for direction. Go to your school councelor, and if they don't seem like they have a clue, call and make an appointment with a student councelor at a Community College. Ask for some brochures on different career possibilities. You really touched my heart with your question, and I will be wishing the best.

High school is tough. There is so much pressure to decide what you want to do with the rest of your life, ho are ou supposed to know that when your 17 years old. It's kinda hard to plan for being 50 years old in a career with a wife and kids. Take it easy. You need to try out all sorts of things to find what interests you the most. One of my daughter toook 2 years of college with a baby. She had to drop out and get a job. She is 26 and went thru several different types of jobs until she found the one she liked, Advertising, shes been in the business for about 3 years now and is making a good income and is happy. But note, it took her several jobs to find what she wanted. She started at the agency answering the phones and is now an account exectivue. Just plan on trying things out to see what fits1
! and relax, it is normal to feel this way at your age.

Well, you have a few options. You can further your education by going to school, or you can just work. Since you don't want to "sit behind a counter the rest of your life," I'd suggest going to school. You don't have to go to a prestigious school, or even a 4 year school. You can go to a community college and get a degree in 2 years.
Since you really do sound clueless about a career, I'd check out your school's guidance office. Most of them have a career center, and they can help you narrow down what you might be interested. I've utilized career centers a few times, and they've really helped me gain focus about what I really want to do.

High school can be a VERY difficult time for many people! Please believe that you are NOT the only one with uncertanties. I think you need to re-evaluate your success! You are academically doing well and passing your classes. You are involved with extracurricular activities that seem to interest you. It sounds as if you're putting way to much stress on yourself! You don't have to be great at things! Did anyone ever tell you, you had to be the best? I'm sure your participation and dedication is shows.
High school is a time for people to find themselves and figure out what makes them unique. Maybe your still trying to figure that out! You are a work in progress and it sounds as if you have a lot to be proud of!
Don't look negatively at your future....thats not going to get you anywhere except for more bummed out. Talking to a career counselor may be very enlightening for you. You can discuss post high school options, which you can look forward to.
Finally, if you're feeling like your life as a whole "sucks", maybe you need to talk to someone. Sometimes we get off track and a therapist can help get you back.

"Not too great at studies" - and you're getting B's and above? WTF do you expect from yourself? Perfection?
Criminy, look at George Bush - a "C" student and he's President! (okay, so he's a "D" president, but still)
Your school should have a career counselor, who will hopefully have aptitude tests, information about careers, job statistics, etc.
Also, talk to people about their work - it's called an "informational interview" - most people love to talk about what they do, if they like what they're doing, and if they have the time to talk to you.
Obviously you're still young (compared to me, that is!), and you have a lot of time to zero in on what it is you will be happy with.
Some HS graduates benefit from a "gap year", where they just go out and travel, do odd jobs to make ends meet, or just work at something -- a good choice would be a job that puts you in contact with people you can spend a few minutes talking to (and maybe setting up a second meeting to investigate what they do in more detail).
Whatever you do, don't put a rope around your neck - a kid in my neighborhood (a friend of my son's) did that last year, just one semester shy of graduating HS. We're still in shock - he seemed to have everything going for him, but like you, hadn't decided what to do. Take it easy, you have plenty of time to find your path!

It's great that you are concerned about these things and it means you are self aware. However, you are still in high school and have plenty of time to figure out what exactly you want to do with your life. Over time you will see that you will reach many different mile stones and just have changes in your life that may or may not lead you in opposite directions. I'm 33 and still learning about myself. That's what's exciting about life - you never know what's coming next!

You are half way there--you know what you don't want to do. It sounds like you need a job that changes frequently. Look around at what is out there. Talk to a guidance counselor about career choices. You could join the military. There is never a dull moment

I'm 18 and in high school too. my grades are smiler and i understand about not wanting a desk job. i personally couldn't do it for any price. right now i work for friends and for myself as a kind of handy man. most of my work is on cars and trucks with a bit of demolition and construction. if your interested in cars they are a lot of fun and the job always changes also the money isn't bad at all (entry is usually about 65k and goes up past 150k in certain areas). hope this helps a bit. good luck
