I need info on the surgery process...not how i can donate...not the moral issues...not the requirements to donate...i need info on the surgical process of donating an organ or having a tissue transplant...thanks =)

For the organ donor, assuming they are "brain dead", the surgical procedure would be like any other organ removal procedure. The organ is disected and clamped, keeping all pertenant arteries, veins, ducts etc intact for use later. Once the organ is removed, it is washed/bathed in a saline solution and some medications to assist presservation, packed in ice then taken to to new recipient. Once the patient is taken into the surgical suite and positioned on the table, the anesthatist will leave, its very strange to stand in a quiet OR while a person is being operated on. (there is no need for all the monitors used by anesethsia, O2sats, Heart rate etc)

they generally remove the organ from the donor, and then insert it into the recipient. I'm pretty sure this procedure starts with a car accident...
