Eh, they don't really get simple 'colds' like we do. They get respiratory infections, which are serious. If your hamster is making strange continous noises like squeaking or snuffling, this is breathing trouble. His eyes may also appear slightly closed and he may have a runny nose or eyes, and/or sneeze. He may also appear less active than usual.

A hamster displaying any of these signs needs to see a vet!

Hamsters with colds tend to have wet, runny noses, and seem less active. I'm not sure, but I think their eyes are also a little wetter if they have colds.

You should give it extra bedding and put the cage in a warm place. If it gets worse, maybe see a veterinarian.

Sneezing, snuffles, and sore noses in hamsters are signs that it has a cold. All you have to do is give it warmth, feed it vitamins and other healthy foods, etc. If it's a severe case, take it to the vet, who may prescribe an antibiotic.

Hamsters are very sensitive to being sick or ill, and can go down hill rapidly from any kind on basic illness, so it would be best to get him to the vets for a check over. But he could be allergic to the saw dust that your using. They can be sensitive to wood shavings. If you are using this, make sure its not cedar shavings and that it is dust free, and has no added fragrance to it.
