See your doctor about it ASAP. You might need to take an anti-allergen.

It sounds very much like a recent allergic reaction I had to Augmentin, which is a penicillin. My doctor gave me Medrol (a steroid) and Zyrtec (an antihistamine) to counter the reaction. As soon as I finished the Medrol (5 or 6 days), the reaction flared up again and he put me on Prednisone (another steroid) for 10 days. That finally did it, but the whole thing was very unpleasant. Now I wear a Medic Alert bracelet listing my drug allergy to ensure that I'm never given it again--even if I'm too injured or ill to tell a health professional about my allergy. You should ascertain whether it is an allergic reaction because if it is and you're ever given another drug in the same class (i.e., penicillin, sulfa, quinalone, erythromycin) you could have a much more serious reaction. If you don't see your doctor, at least call and speak with the nurse so they get the information on your chart. They'll likely tell you to take Benadryl, too; it helps if the reaction isn't severe. Best of luck to you!

Regarding the reply that a reaction would have happened within the first few doses: ABSOLUTELY NOT! I was on Augmentin for 7 days before the reaction developed.

This may not be an allergic reaction to the antibiotic, it could easily be a result of the tonsilitis. Scarlett fever which used to kill alot of small children is a strep throat with a red rash like you have described. It may need futher anticbiotics. If it is an allergic reaction you still need to see your Dr. because you may need to be put on a steroid in a tapering dose. (start with a higher dose and wean down in about 5 days).

if you are finished with your medication you should just now be seeing an allergic reaction. it would have happened usually within the first 30 to 45 minutes for the first or second dose. have you gotten into anything or changed and soap, hairspray, etc.? i would take a benadryl and you can rub some hydrocortisone cream on it (if you are NOT allergice to either of those things). if it doesn't go away within a few days i would call your doctor and go in. but if you notice any swelling or difficulty breathing, swollen tongue go to the er right away.

Take some Benadryl. You have 2 more days before you clear up. Be sure to call your doctor's office as they may want to see the outbreaks and get a note that you're allergic. Be sure to get the name of the antibiotic so that you can tell doctors, for the rest of your life, that you're allergic to it. Take care.

It's quite possible you have an allerigc reaction.

Go see your doctor, he/she will probably give you a cream to clear it up.

I get something that sounds quite close to this but its caused by the Sun. It was on my arms and eventually my face. A doctor gave me a jar of cream and it cleared it right up.

Call your Dr's office. They should be able to tell you.

Are you sure it was the antibiotic? If you were allergic you would have shown symptoms after the first dose.

Stop taking it and call you dr. - my husband and I both have had reactions to antibiotics - He would just itch, I would break out in Hives and itch to no end - Dr. told me to stop taking it.
