the cartilage hurts SLIGHTLY more than a lobe piercing, but it still only feels like a pinch. you can barely feel when it gets pierced.
if you do choose to get your cartilage pierced, get it done right at a piercing shop with a NEEDLE, not with a piercing gun at the mall. guns cause blunt force trauma, and can cause your cartilage to shatter. needles are much quicker, safer, and help your ear to heal sooner. [and no, they dont hurt more!] if you'd like to read more about the guns vs. needles debate, read this article:

That piercing hurts more than the ear lobe. Trust me on that. But it goes away after a few days. Just have to worry about infections the first few weeks.

honestly, it depends on you. i have my lobes double pierced and they hurt more than my cartilage. If you have thick lobes, they might hurt more than the cartilage. If you get your cartilage pierced on the thin part at the top, you might not even feel a thing. I didn't.

i recently got my lobe pierced nd i literally didnt feel anything. the cartilage i heard though, hurts a lot nd is very sensitive, but i defenitly think cartilage is prettier, so if u can deal with the pain, get cartilage, if not then lobe is cute

definetly cartilege because your skin is thicker/stronger right there.

cartilage almost always hurts a decent amount more because it's harder tissue to puncture and it has less blood flow so it takes longer to heal as well.
