It's OK, but it has lost some of its potency. As long as it didn't turn yellow, it is still OK.

The expiration date, required by law in the United States beginning in 1979, specifies only the date the manufacturer guarantees the full potency and safety of the drug - it does not mean how long the drug is actually "good" or safe to use.
Medical authorities uniformly say it is safe to take drugs past their expiration date - no matter how "expired" the drugs purportedly are. Except for possibly the rarest of exceptions, you won't get hurt and you certainly won't get killed.

How expired? If it expired recently, like 2006, it should still be fine, but maybe lost some of it's potentcy.
Now if it's expired in 1986, throw it out.

Normally people use them before the expiration date..but it should not pose a problem....the gov't forces companies to have an experation date on things...even bottled water.

If just a few days or whatever and your really in pain I don't think it will hurt, but if a few months or years I think I wouldn't do it.
