There are several contributing factors when answering this question. When you are financially challenged, there is a limit to the resources available such as health care, contraceptives, and education. Most individuals that grow up in poor conditions are not educated as well as others of more financial means. Unable to buy contraceptives and without the knowledge of how to prevent pregnancy, it really is no wonder that poor people have more children. Most often they can not support themselves much less a "herd" of kids. It's really unfortunate for the children that have been brought into that situation. The vicious cycle begins over again with each new generation.

Lack of education and lack or resources. Yes, some people have children for the welfare cash, free education, or food stamps...I worked in childcare for 6 1/2 years and have seen both side. Then there are sometimes people who want children because they are from a big family and believe that it how a family should be run...and because of that they are poor. Personally, you should not have any more children than you are able to personally care for, emotionally, physically and financially.

Well-to-do people are always so busy with earning money and scheduling events (like the country club, meetings, society balls) that they never have time for children. If one does show up, they have the money and the means to "take care" of the problem. Men with money are the ones who opt for vasectomies., and women with money get their tubes tied. Isn't it sad that the people who could afford to give children the best are the ones who choose not to have children?

Alot of people want big families because they come from them. I think the poor chose to give life to their children and the rich chose to abort.

Less educated = more kids and starting younger - its been proven like a billion times. Then the starting younger limits the parents post high school educations options - leads to less income - poor kids - poor school - lower quality education = more kids and starting younger.

Most of the time it is due to the Child Tax Credit they get during the first of the year. Also it could be that they have a lot of free time on their hands and that is all they know to do.

Because of a lot of reasons:
1. A lot of them don't have the health benefits or insurance to get the correct forms of birth control to prevent pregnancy.
2. The more kids you have , the more welfare money you will receive and welfare benefits you will receive.
3. Because they are just like other people who don't know how to say no to premaritual sex without consequences. And, too lazy to buy condoms or get on birth control. Or "Oh my God it feels sooo good without a condom, who cares if I get you pregnant."

I have no idea. The people who can least afford to raise them keep having them. And there are plenty of clinics for free low cost birth control.
I chose to have only two. I wanted them to have the best in life and that included my time and dads time.
