Vintage,
I do NOT drink any Alcohol because, as a Christian we are supposed to be leading others to GOD. HOW can I set an example for others if I am drinking alcohol and acting stupid? We are told that if we are to be a deacon or an elder that we are to behave in certain ways and refraining from becoming drunk is one of them. We are to treat our body as the TEMPLE of GOD. The Temple was revered in Moses' Day. It was very carefully placed and everything was put perfectly in it's place at all times. We should never do anything that might harm GOD's TEMPLE (our body) that would be a sin. I cherish what GOD has given me and I take care not to abuse it. I suggest that every other CHRISTIAN do the same. Have a wonderful evening and a glorious week.
Thank you,
Eds
EDIT:
Those who speak of Christ changing water into wine should realize that HE was a member of the Jewish community and that the wine they served was less alcoholic beverage than our 6% beer.

No, i don't. My mothers and dads the two merely approximately consistently inebriated and for this reason did not care if I drank or not, and so I frequently did as a youthful teenager. (I easily won't be in a position to recollect a time while my father hadn't been eating). eating at a youthful age substitute into additionally greater socially proper in that society than that's the place we are residing now. i don't think of I gained something from the loose reign. I desire to not drink in any respect now (will do each now and then at social activities, etc. yet do not shop any alcohol at domicile). the main severe ingredient, for my section, is modelling healthful eating behavior, and not coming up a "badass stigma" approximately eating. that is genuine that international places with bigger legal a while, have greater problems with binge eating and infants, which truthfully isn't a twist of fate. i think of that I do style healthful eating behavior yet i don't enable them to drink.

There are many passages in the Bible that says drinking alcohol is bad in the same way that a doctor would say it. I won't post a bunch of verses but I will say that all the references to people drinking "strong drink" or alcoholic beverages always talk about the bad things associated with it. In summary the Bible simply states that drinking alcohol leads to bad situations. Psalms 33:29-35 to me is the most striking passage on the negative side of drinking alcohol. I recommend you check it out.

When God said: Drink the Wine," He also mentioned that you not destroy the Temple of God. In other words, drinking is not a sin until you make a sin. Our government has done just that!
It attacks the use of drugs and smoking cigarettes, however, alcohol is the biggest legal killer substances around. But, it's not being attacked because our government makes more taxes off of it than gas. But yes, we should stay healthy for God and do away with acohol. That will never be allowed!

Drifting into legalism is one of the many problems in the church.
Drinking alcohol in general is not a sin but it may be unwise to do and could lead you personally to sin. For instance, I choose not to watch most kissing and sex scenes on TV because it can lead me to lust, but I wouldn't say that all people who watch them are sinning.
I actually choose not to drink alcohol personally on a regular basis because I don't think it's a wise choice for me (taste, health, finances, family history of alcoholism) but I do enjoy toasting champagne at weddings and an occasional beer in social situations.
With that said, there are a few verses that discourage "drunkenness" (Proverbs 23:20, Romans 13:13, Ephesians 5:18).
But other verses demonstrate the legalism of the day:
"18 For John didn't spend his time eating and drinking, and you say, `He's possessed by a demon.'19 The Son of Man,* on the other hand, feasts and drinks, and you say, `He's a glutton and a drunkard, and a friend of tax collectors and other sinners!' But wisdom is shown to be right by its results." (Matthew 11:18-19).
"25 What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are so careful to clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside you are filthy—full of greed and self-indulgence!26 You blind Pharisee! First wash the inside of the cup and the dish, and then the outside will become clean, too." (Matthew 23:25-26)
I hope that helps you sort things out. You can always ask God directly to help guide your choices and give you wisdom!

As far as *I* understand.. the Bible says not to eat or drink IN EXCESS. I don't believe that there is a specific thing saying that you cannot drink at all. There is also something that says not to do something that will cause your brother (as in other people, not just your brother) to fall.. So, like it's best not to drink around a guy that's a recovering alcoholic.. You know what I mean?
Anyway.. Yah.. That's my understanding anyway.. It specifies things like not to do things in excess or be a drunkard.. But I don't think that it says you can't sit and have a glass of wine or whatever.

The bible tells us not to engage in drunkenness, the bible also tells us to follow the laws that man has put in place so that we, as Christians, are seen as respectful and law abiding. I am under 21 and for these reasons I do not drink. Also, in our society, young people drinking for reasons other then to get drunk is virtually unheard of. Very few young people actually enjoy the taste of alcohol.
Bottom line, you can drink but don't get drunk, and only if you're legal.
goooo Jesus! :)

Well what do you think is in that chalice? However they do not make it into a party. Except I have heard that there are quite a few priests that become alcoholics. But if you intend to over indulge in it you may last for quite a few years before God says enough! and then there is hell to pay, believe me, I have been down that exact road and it plain and simply sucks big time. Take care and may God bless you spiritually.

Alcohol and especially red wine in moderation (a few glasses a day) is quite healthy and extendes life. Maybe that's why some of those old guys in the bible lived 200 years.

The Bible tell us all things in moderation. In fact the book of Ecclesiastes tell us to "eat, drink, and be merry".
In the New Testament, Paul teaches us that each of us will give an account of our own life to God, that it in not for man to judge the actions of another man. He says that none of us should intentionally eat or drink or do or say anything openly that would make someone else stumble in their faith.
It also states in the New Testament that all things are permissable for me, but not all things are beneficial. Do as you choose, as long as you are in good standing with the Lord.
