I believe the phrase "Nature abhors a vaccuum" applies in this case. If not Falwell, then someone else would have invented the Moral Majority. People do not like change, particularly if those are the people losing priviledge and power. Falwell and his Moral Majority are those people. Someone would have taken his place.

Well, the Democrats would have been more powerful this entire time, and therefore we would probably be using alternative fuels, and not being so dependent on oil.

Therefore we would not be fighting a war in Iraq. And also, we would probably not have the terrorist threat level that we do, as we wouldn't be bothering with the middle east as much anyway.

There's probably a lot of changes that would have happened. Personally, I think the economy would be in better shape, as once again, oil would not be the basis of our entire culture. Americans would probably not be laughing stock of the civilized world either, being the only nation of our stature to have policy determined by mythology.

Anyway, now that he's dead, and Bush will be out of office soon, maybe these sad depraved people will get out of our lives for good, and hide in their churches while the rest of us build a future.

The American public might have placed less credence in extreme right-wing Christianity and voted differently. Where would Reagan (or even George W. Bush) have been without the religious right? Being quite clever with media hype, the Moral Majority and the Christian Coalition caused untold thousands of people to believe that Fundamentalism actually represented mainstream Christianity, and that it was somehow permissible to add heavy doses of religion into American politics.

Strikes me that DEMOCRAT Al Gore (you know, the INVENTOR OF THE INTERNET) and his WIFE, TIPPER did more damage with the PMRC (Parents Media Resources Committe) and the labeling of music albums and making it a crime nationally to sell explicit music albums to those under 17 did far more damage and were far more poltically active.

I don't recall Falwell doing ANY trick as good as Tipper Gore did!

I recall Jack Valente is making it impossible for 16 year old to see certain movies with or without a parent in public. I recall the National Association of Broadcasters toning down TV. I recall the Catholic Rating services and doing far more to give a thumbs down in the world.

I don't recally the Moral Majority as doing much more than making funny speeches and postureing.

You "guys" give him WAY too much credit. He was a small man, with small ideas, who should, by rights, be a non-entity and YOU "guys" are turning him into a FAD.

I'm not wishing him ill. It's a sad day when anyone dies, but someome dies in the world every sixty seconds and only Falwell is getting noticed.

And it's by a COALITION of FUNDIES, TROLLS, ATHEISTS and other NON-BELEIVERS ALL WORKING TOGETHER TO MAKE SURE THE WORLD REMEMBERS (jerry falwell)...

Next thing you know he'll be right under Marilyn and Elvis in post death popularity!

no longer many beloved this individual stated as Jerry Falwell and "why" is rather "glaring." of direction he forgot someplace alongside the line that in all his judgments he become no longer being an fairly sturdy party to the words Jesus taught about judging others. Being "lifeless" now, be happy we do no longer ought to take heed to his UNGODLY procedures......
