What could be the reason for the USCIS to say your interview is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances?

The reason the USCIS gave me for cancelling my interview was due to unforeseen circumstances. Is there a way to find out what the unforeseen circumstances are? I am extremely stressed about this matter because it has thrown a major wrench in my gears. Can anyone help me or even shed light in this matter?

Never heard of anything like it... but it probably is something having nothing to do with your case. For example, if the interview is at a U.S. embassy in a foreign nation, they probably only have one person doing the interviews and that person may have asked to use his/her vacation time on that date... or any number of other reasons. They probably made your interview date with no regard to whatever this event is, whether it was foreseeable or not, it might be unforeseen simply because they didn't care to look.

About your gears, I'm sorry to hear it but dealing with the USCIS is bound to put a wrench in them. You'll have to put the brakes on your gears during the whole process... my wife is from Argentina and I'm living here with her and our gears have been stopped in their tracks for more than a year. Just so you know, if this is the first interview, they're going to put another wrench in your gears. There's a second half of the process. They're going to ask you for a background check from your country of origen and any other country you've lived in for more than six months, medical examinations, and a long list of vaccinations. I would recommend that you go get the first stage of the hepatitis A and B vaccination ASAP because it's a six month process by itself, so there's another big wrench in your gears right there. And start looking into your funds, because you'll have to prove your financial independence.

Edit: The fact that they don't tell you at the beginning all of the steps you'll have to go through seems totally unfair... just another part of their efforts to make sure only financially mobile people come into the U.S. If you knew all the things you'd have to do from the start, it could help a lot... it would have saved us a year in limbo.

Quit your whining, unforeseen circumstances usually means somebody did not go to work and they had to shuffle the schedule and you got bumped. There is no way to find out. Wait until you get another appointment and chill out.

It could mean that they just got a memo about you, and that the ICE agents are scheduled to be at your house at the time of your scheduled interview. Did they tell you to stay close to the phone?

I suspect it means they don't want to admit why they canceled. Something like they can't find your file, or perhaps have two files with the same name and can't figure out which one is the right one.

Usually it means that they found something bad in your background and have referred it to the criminal investgators who need the extra time to get a warrant for your arrest when your appointment is rescheduled!

What did you do?
