You know I don't understand that either?
If we are representing the King of Kings, why do some women who attend church not project modesty in their choice of clothing?
No one is trying to be legalistic about what one should wear but when I was in the world I use to expose a little more than I should have, but when I got saved something told me within that the clothing I was selecting would no longer be appropriate since I was a kid's King. The Holy Spirit pretty much dresses me.
Good question.

Sadly, women do not see that this screams "insecure" just as much as a man driving a very large truck.
So too, this has become such a part of "society at large" that people think it is ok for church as well.
I've told this story before. We had a youth mass at my church. One of the girls got up to do the second reading. She bowed before the tabernacle (Catholics believe Jesus is truly present in the consecrated host) - wearing transparent white capri pants and a black thong. She essentially mooned the entire congregation. And her mother sat there beaming with joy.
As Christians we are called to walk a different path. To avoid secular ideals and cling to the ideals of our faith.
We should seek to please God. Not to gain the admiration of men. Certainly NOT to cause men to oogle us.
You know, friend ExMuslim, if women want to wear fancy cleavage creating Victoria's Secret bras underneath tops which properly cover them - more power to them! Right on! But I don't need to see it. For me, I'm all about the comfort of cotton. Did I just share too much? I'm not into bras that contort and distort my body. If that's what a man wants, he can wear it!

Even if I tried, I wouldn't have any cleavage. But, you know what, I'm ok with that. Even if I did have it I probably wouldn't show it off.

What should anyone else care? If showing cleavage makes a woman feel good, then I say go for it. Nowhere does it say that folks should dress a certain way before entering church.
What happened to not judging others?
