I always had to lose a lot of weight in a short period of time since high school. That was many, many years ago. I had to be at least 200lbs. for football season which ended in Nov. and be 165lbs. for wrestling which started in December.
Well now days they don't allow people to move that much weight in that short of a time. They now understand how dangerous that is.
Any way this past Nov. I found out I have type 2 diabetes and I needed to lose weight again.
In Nov. I was 277lbs. now I'm 225lbs.
For me it wasn't that big of a deal as I am to this day very athletic and active.
The biggest change I did is now I eat every 2 to three hours.
My metabolism use to be very slow cause I would only binge eat at night as I was so active during the day.
Now since I don't do that my metabolism is much faster and that's how I lost the weight.
The theory behind that is. If your body is constantly being refueled it won't have to store anything for later. That way it won't turn the food into fat.
I also see a dietitian to help monitor progress

Over last summer, i started to diet and exercise. I lost about 8 pounds a month for a total of just about 25 pounds. I cut the pop and I stopped eating late and eating fast food. But I also cheated once in a while! I also did 50 crunches and 25 pushups every night.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)
i follow this every day and i have lost about 40lbs

I measured and weighed everything I ate and added up the calories and grams of fat and fiber. I tried to cut down on refined carbohydrates (sweets, white flour, white rice, etc.) and eat mostly whole grains. I eat more vegetables.
I also took an exercise class that included aerobics and strength training.
I lost 25-30 lbs. but gained some (5-10 lb.) back because I've health problems and don't have the energy to take care of myself.
I used this site to calculate my intake:
http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/
This site is supposed to be good, but I've never used it:

I lost 12lbs. That may not sound much, but for a petite girl it makes a lot of difference.
The way I lost weight was that I exercised twice a day for 30 minutes each.
I also cut back on soda and eating smaller portions. I also choose chicken over beef or pork, and fish over chicken.

Increased my activity and decreased my caloric intake.
If I want to drop 10lbs in a single week, I get up at 5am everymorning and hit the sack at 12 midnight everyday for a full week and just eat healthy.
