I'm not sure about the guys' point of view, except of my own, and that I've had alot of personal experiences and I'm not going to say that god doesnt exhist, but i would'nt exactly call him/her good either. Instead here's a thought for you, Is it possible that God and the Devil are the same being/person?
I think that's your own personal call there.

God is VERY good!
I don't know what you mean "marital chore".
If you get to know Him, I mean God Himself,
NOT preachers, or TV evangelists or kooky people...
God is wonderful love!
He is patient and kind. He's there whenever you are beat up, heartsick, lonely or afraid.
And He's there through our happiest times!
People, know that God and Jesus aren't there to smack us down!
Humans may do that, but God is saying:
"COME TO ME!!!" "I WANT TO LOVE YOU!"
