I was watching "The Sopranos" when I had a pizza delivered and the pizza guy is threatning to sue me over offensive content, (yes I live in Utah) don't the delivery guys assume some kind of risk as part of the job of entering people's houses?

He could sue but I doubt he would win but from now on you should order pizzas from another outlet for your own safety because you don't know what he could do to it once he recognizes your address. Send an email to the corporate headquarters to complain and tell them you're taking your business elsewhere.

Wow! I totally understand that this guy might not like what's being watched on tv in other people's houses... but if he's that sensitive than he should just ignore the show or do a different job. Now days unfortunatly people can sue for any reason they want to, you never know what other people are going to do or say or be offended by. If he does sue you, I very seriously doubt that he'll win. I doubt he'd find anyone to take his case just over an episode of the Sopranos. I'd call his place of employment and talk to the manager, if the delivery guy made a huge deal out of this while he was at your house than you should tell them, but be polite or you might give then reason to think the guy had a right to complain. Plus if he does sue, you don't want a nasty call to his employer to look bad on you.

I don't think they would win, but there ARE times when what you are watching when you know a delivery is coming can be a problem.. I took a delivery to a house where the ONLY door was right next to the window into his living room.. where he was watching porn.. windows WIDE open and volume WAY up.. he knew a delivery was coming and left it on while he answered the door there is NO way I could avoid seeing or hearing it while trying to give him change etc.. Personally I don't care, but we had 4 other drivers working at the time who were only 16.. Even if I was not a minor, the fact that I did not sign up to watch or hear porn would give me grounds for a lawsuit.. (if he had turned it off when he realized I was there it might change that),,,, The fact is though, it depends on how offensive it was.. how much they were "forced" to see/hear.. and how they reacted.. (however, minors are minors so anything not suitable to 16 or 17 yr olds where you are can be problematic) As I said, I didn't care.. I just got a good laugh on the way back to work.

Why'd you let the delivery guy (a complete stranger!!) IN your house? Are you guys in Utah that trusting, lol? I always pay/take the pizza and the guy standing outside the front door.

He can sue you if he wants, but the case is ridiculous and he won't win. He'll probably (if he can even find a lawyer to represent him) receive a hefty fine from the court for wasting the court's time.

Who cares if you're watching the Sopranos? It's like anything else people complain about on TV/radio--if the language is offensive, too much violence, etc.--AVERT your eyes or turn it off! Obviously he would have had no right to march in and turn your TV off, but he could have ignored it.

The pizza guy should not have entered your house. I don't believe he can sue you successfully. Of course anyone can sue over anything these days. I doubt any lawyer would take his case though. I would definitely tell his manager about his threat. He has no right to judge what you are watching. (or even look at your tv for that matter.)

If you had invited him to watch TV with you, then yes, you'd be liable for the content of the programming you invited them to watch; but a request to deliver pizza is not a social invite until the words, "Hey, wanna stay and watch some TV?" ARE uttered by you.

Where is a pizza delivery guy getting the money to hire a lawyer? Even if it doesn't get thrown out this time, you can appeal.

No that's bull$#!T. It's your house and you should be able to watch whatever you want, it is non of his business because it doesn't affect him in anyway. He is just being nosy and its not like you said anything to him. If he were to sue anybody it should be the producers or whoever writes the script, but youre just an innocent viewer.

unless you are watching child pornography, no he/she cannot do anything against you. If he/she is threatening, simply call the pizza parlor, ask for the manager, tell the manager that you are being threatened by one of his delivery persons and you want appropriate action taken.
as a side note, I never let delivery people inside the house. You never know who they really are.

Report the delivery guy to his employer for harassment.
