Buy a "No Soliciting" sign, and put it on you door, you could also get a paint pen or permanent marker and add the words:(including religion) on your sign if they don't take heed to it, but usually the sign by itself is enough to get the message across and they'll stop knocking on your door. If some one ignores the sign, don't open the door, they'll figure it out.

1. don't answer the door.
2. If you answer the door, just shut it, don't say anything, just shut it and go back to what you were doing, if you talk and try to be polite, they will keep you at the door and waste your time.
3. My dad sat by the window in the living room, when jehovah witness or a sales person came by and rang the bell, he would just ignore them even though they could see him just a foot away. if they started talking to him he would turn the TV volume up.

I tried 100 times politely telling the Jehovah's Witnesses that I don't believe in God... they refused to leave me alone... So finally I just stopped answering the door... I didn't care if they could see or hear me or my kids... After ringing the bell for about 5 minutes they would leave shaking their heads... I refuse to have someone tell me what I should believe...

In the case of the Jehovahs Witness, I always say that I am Jewish. (I'm not but they don't know that.) It always works. I think it's because that Judism is a religion that you are born into, not necessarily a "chosen" religion. I guess that they don't figure that they can convert you as easily.
With the door to door salespeople, I always go with, "I'm not interested."

Im a JW and the day is a whole lot easier if people are polite. We don't push anything (i admit there are some who do push the limits) we're just following instructions (matt 24:14 if you'd care to look it up) and so if you're not interested be polite and just say that.

put a note in your window saying no cold callers or religion. Jehovahs Witnesses never knock a door with such a note.

Come to the door with the phone to your ear. Tell them that you just got your test results back and start crying. They'll move right along.

Salesperson: I am not interested in purchasing anything from you. Politely close the door.

JW: I am not interested in listening to your religious preaching. I wish that you add me to your "do not call" list.

Why be polite? I am a christian, but I don't appreciate people shoving their views down my throat. I just tell them I'm an atheist, and close the door.

Simply don't answer the door and be as quiet as you can possibly be until they leave. That is usually what I do ha ha I always get suckered, so I don't answer the door anymore.
