I just saw the post on Pascal's Wager, which I am remotely familiar with, and my question is, have Atheists actually tried reading the Bible or looking into its accuracy? I heard Kelly and Brian Sapien claim they read the Bible, but then make ignorant statements about wearing polyester and eating shrimp - which would make them sinners. Anyone who really read the Bible wouldn't say that.
Two, the Bible cannot be compared to the Koran. Fulfilled prophesies and scientific facts. 1. Daniel's prophecy that the Messiah would be represented as King in 69 weeks of years(483 years total) after the command to rebuild Jerusalem, and then killed, which had to have been written 200 years before the event happened(this was when it was translated into Greek). 483 years later, Jesus made His triumphant entry and was murdered days later - just as was prophesied. Not to mention that history and science validate the Bible. Has anyone actually checked it out without bias?

For those who have mentioned it, Leviticus is part of the Old Testament Law. You guys obviously have not read the New Testament where Jesus and the disciples make it clear that anything can be eaten, if eaten with thanks. Read Acts Chapter 10. And still, none of you can say anything against the prophecies in the Bible, they came true and historically, the walls of Jericho have been found, a pillar Solomon built on a seashore, as well as the remains of the Red Sea Crossing!

Many of us are EX-Christians. We probably know the bible better than you do, that's why we reject it.

Yes, I've tried reading the Bible and checked on its accuracy. And I came to the conclusion that it's bunk.

For that matter, there are probably more atheists (per capita) who have actually studied the Bible than Christians who've acutally studied it. Many Christians haven't even read the Bible since Sunday school, if ever.

And your Koran comparison doesn't hold, because Muslims too claim to have a book that is historically and scientifically validated. So once again, it all comes down to why I should take your word over theirs.

And please tell me the "science" that validates the idea that less than 6000 years ago the entire world was flooded, and only two of every surviving species (and everything they'd eat) was put on a boat for 40 days.were all put all of the living species of the world were put on a boat for 40 days, properly fed, and distributed in the way that we see in the world today. Oh, and saying that the big invisible man made it happen is not "scientific validation".

Though I'm not an atheist to say the Bible is historically accurate is a bit laughable. Prophecies filled within the Bible, don't prove anything but the fact that the Bible likes itself. Why didn't Jesus come back before His generation had passed, that's a pretty big prophecy. And where's the historical facts that show a worldwide flood.

And science validating the Bible, a little less Dr. Dino, a little more reality for you me thinks. I have read the Bible, it's too hard to believe in even in a non-literal sense.

Yes, non-Christians have read it.

The polyester and Shrimp come from Leviticus [Polyester is two fabrics {Cotton and something else}]. Leviticus says to wear only one type of fabric. It also states that all non-finned sea creatures {Shrimp and others} are bad things. There are punishments outlined for wearing/eating.

Dearie, stop interpreting Jewish books. The Jews have a different interpretation of them.

History and science do not validate the bible. We have no historical data Jesus existed, and it is blindingly obvious night and day require the sun [Read Genesis]. Also, the Earth moves [Read Job], and there is no historical record of a Hebrew noble carrying away slaves [or a mass of Jewish slaves for that matter] {And the Egyptians were great record keepers.} [Read Exodus.]

I read the bible 3 times by the time I was 15 (baptist). Once when I was 16 (agnostic). And twice more in the last 4 years (as an atheist)

You say "the" bible but which one did you read? Did you know there are plenty of versions of the new testaments out there? To which statements majority of the time are most likely conflicting. May I suggest you pick up more than one bible at least two perhaps and see if they state exactly the same things, trying to say the same things but differently worded, conflicting with the statements they make, or just contradicting each other. If each bible has 3 or more it will translate into confusion and which will convert once believers into atheistem

Given the Bible directly contradicts itself, it's accuracy is suspect. Many atheists have read the Bible and ignore the bland evasiveness of the apologetics.

The catch with bypassing Leviticus is that you can eat pork, so "pearls before swine" becomes a meaningless metaphor. Thank you for demonstrating the bland evasiveness.

Where did you ever learn that Atheists never read the bible. I can't speak for anybody but myself, but I read about all the religions. How else can anyone make a decision ?
I'm not so sure that you know so much about religion. You state that Jesus was murdered. That's one hundred percent wrong. He was legally executed by the Romans according to Roman law.
He crime was shooting off his mouth that he had powers greater than the Emperor. At that time, that was an offense punishable by death. Get your stories straight.

You obviously aren't familiar enough with Pascal's Wager or you'd know it doesn't hold up.

Any Christian who believes their "God" is the one true "God" is risking damnation via 1000 other gods. "Why not believe? You've everything to gain and nothing to lose." This is a logical fallacy. It's simply not possible to believe in all potential gods without violating the dogmatic doctrines of some.

So Mr. Blaise Pascal, now long deceased, made a silly bet. He choose Christ and only covered 1 of 1000's of possibilities. He's probably writhing in Hindu Hell at this very moment.

Gambling is for losers.

Maybe you should read Leviticus again and realize you are the one who hasn't read the bible.

AGAIN WITH THE PROPHECIES.

No biblical prophecy has any specific dates to it. Therefore it is not a prophecy. They only became "truth" after the event occured and someone said, "See look, we predicted that." In other words someone made a statement and it took thousands of years for an event to resemble it enough to call it that.

hi there ,in answer to your question i can only share my experiance with you ,i was raised in the protestant faith in scotland where bible studies were central to our religious life .i won several awards for biblical knowledge and was intent on a life as a missionary ,when i was 12 yrs old i was repeatedly raped by our minister and his wife ,being a good boy i told my parents hoping for them to keep me safe ,they asked our minister about this to which he replied that i was infected by a demon ,i then spent 7 weeks at a retreat ran by our minister and his wife (i was there special project) basicaly they tortured me in ways i cant describe to anyone .eventually i was discovered by a burglar of all people who sent for the police (very brave man ) its 15yrs later i think im basicaly normal(i think) ,my story isnt typical or common but listen carefully there is no god ,no jesus ,no bhudda ,no mohammed ,no holy mother mary . wake up its mass mind control which serves only evil people who enjoy having power over sad souls who need an emotional crutch like religion ,basically i know the bible better than most people so i feel qualified to tell you that your god dosent exist and if he does why did he let that happen to me,
