It is embarrassing, frustrating, and disheartening.
Why do they believe this? I suppose it is most likely a tradition of family and teachers and preachers not believing.
How do we fix this? Education, unbiased and sincere, seems to be our best weapon.

Many Christians in America are not fundamentalists, and don't believe in a literal, creationist interpretation of the Bible, including myself. Much of what the Bible says is written in allegorical language and uses metaphors. While many of the events told in the Bible *did* happen, and it is essentially true in it's basic theology and morality, and it's central theme, which is man's relationship to God, it was never meant to be all read and interpreted literally, as a science or history text.
The Bible must be interpreted with the aid of the Holy Spirit, in the same way it way written by inspired men filled with the same Holy Spirit.
2 Peter 1:20-21 =
"Yet first you must understand this; that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of any personal or private interpretation
For no prophecy ever originated because some man willed it, but men spoke from God who were borne along by the Holy Spirit."

I'd rather live in America than any country in the world. Go live in one of these evolution countries that pay $8 for petroleum, have 20-25% unemployment and are being taken over by Muslims. Yeah, that's the way I'd like to live. Many people from Europe and Canada still come to The USA for operations because their idiotic socialist countries have horrible doctors since the ones with talent leave for better pay. This is still the greatest country in the world!!!!!
God Bless America.

whilst evolution could be defined by applying thoroughly organic tactics and those tactics on my own, this does not recommend it is impossible for Jehovah, Vishnu, Huitzilopitchli, Freya, Athena, or Hathor to push it alongside without us being waiting to "%. up" on it. What you are able to nonetheless not do is take a introduction tale actually and settle for evolution on an identical time (see the lady above me). maximum creationist colleges (as in colleges of concept) deny evolution, nevertheless they'd settle for kind (that's evolution, yet we are going to depart that digression). introduction with the visual allure of age; the Earth is 6,000-10,000 years previous, yet made to look billions of years previous. It became into created to make it seem as though there became into something earlier. So, there's a seed; which means there became right into a plant in the past it. Adam and Eve had abdomen buttons; suggesting there have been human beings in the past them. it is likewise time-commemorated as Omphalos or "final Thursdayism." there is youthful Earth Creationism, which takes the Genesis account actually, and thinks the earth and universe are everywhere from 6,000-10,000 years previous. No evolution whatsoever, yet there are "varieties" that adapt. there is creative Creationism, which means the Genesis account is longer than it style of feels. whilst the e book says "day," one interprets it as "age." there is Successive introduction, wherein the international is as previous as scientists say, yet God is arising new species throughout time. there is Orthogenesis, that's largely deism. God deliberate all of this from the commencing up, and enable it loose. Theistic Evolution is the comprehensive include of evolution, yet God makes the gene mutations or tweaks organic decision. smart layout means that each and every thing became into designed. It makes a speciality of the varieties latest in nature quite than the tactics. It makes a speciality of "gaps" interior the evolutionary concept or the fossil record, yet has not something to back up its very own techniques. Is left with a "God of the Gaps." jonjon: Evolution does not render Jesus' sacrifice ineffective. the belief of "unique sin" would finally end up getting dumped, yet we are all sinners in any case, in accordance to Christian doctrine. no person is without sin. So, Jesus' sacrifice would nonetheless be mandatory to maintain us from that sin.

I love Rosie; I admire her for being brave enough to speak the truth, and not what the majority want her to say.
But that is indeed a sad statistic. Perhaps it's part of the reason we are so far behind Europe in our medical treatments--they do not have the restrictions on medical research we have here, where such restrictions are based on an ancient dogmatic textbook.

The fundies & creationists are croaking their death rattle--they know that every day--year after relentless year--more fossils are discovered adding further proof to the theory of evolution--& maybe it will always remain a theory as gravity & electricity have--but at least it qualifies as a theory--as opposed to "God did it".

I agree, that's why we are slowly getting lower and lower when it comes to science. Saying godidit is in no way going to help us in the future. China and Japan and everyone else will go right by us with technology and we will be left lying in the dirt.

Most Americans--including genuine Christians--don't buy the creationism nonsense. What the right-wing cults believe is their own business--as long as they stop trying to force it on others.

i would just like to let you know evolution is not a fact. it could be wrong still. Laws are facts, but it is not a law, it is a theory. A theory has been proven possible true but not 100%. i think its like evolution is real, but there may have been another way.

Evolution is real. So is God. It is plain to me God uses evolution to create life.
