Well, to be honest with you.. it's very hard to start counting calories at your age.... people who do.. carry a little book around with them that says how many calories in that stick of celery they are about to dip into that hommus.... you don't want to be like that do you?

You are on the right track though.. watch what you are eating and do some exercises that are fun...... for example, my son jumps on a trampolene for hours and doesn't even realise he is exercising.

Anyway.. the answer.... depends on your size as well as your age. Here is a link to calculate your BMR (basal Metabolic Rate) ... http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/

You multiply that figure (the BMR) by 1.375 (for a lightly active person) and that gives you the number of calories you need to sustain your present weight. Yours is likely to be about 1700 Cals to maintain your present weight... whereas mine is around 3200 Cals.

Given that you are 12, you will grow taller and soon... so your calorie needs will obviously increase. If you want to lose WEIGHT.. lucky for you.... all you have to do is WAIT... and eat well... and have fun. Good luck darling.

heyy im 12 yrs old too. Im not sure how many calories to be exact but im thinking 1,500. For adults, i know that they cant pass 2000 calories XD anyways, its not weird for u to ask that..i do worry about getting fat too lol :)
