He was certainly no hero, with these intolerant, bigoted remarks of condemnation (so much for showing brotherly love and an interest in other people's souls):

"If you're not a born-again Christian, you're a failure as a human being."

"AIDS is the wrath of a just God against homosexuals."

"The idea that religion and politics don't mix was invented by the Devil to keep Christians from running their own country."

"I do question the sincerity of people like the Reverend Martin Luther King."

"Labor unions should study and read the Bible instead of asking for more money. When people get right with God, they are better workers."

"I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU... I point the finger in their face and say 'you helped this happen" (regarding the New York 9/11 attacks).

"Thank God for these gay demonstrators. If I didn't have them, I'd have to invent them. They give me all the publicity I need."

"Christians, like slaves and soldiers, ask no questions"

"[homosexuals are] brute beasts...part of a vile and satanic system [that] will be utterly annihilated, and there will be a celebration in heaven." Jerry Falwell: Quoted in Jim Hill and Rand Cheadle, "The Bible Tells Me So", Anchor Books (1996), Pages 69-70

"Textbooks are Soviet propaganda"

And maybe the most outrageous name-calling of all, since this concerns his so-called Christian brother:

"Billy Graham is the chief servant of Satan."

you are able to not rule out stupidity. Benjamin Franklin invented the lightning rod to guard homes from being struck and burnt down. If somebody builds a sixty 5 foot tall statue such as a flammable supplies surrounding a steel physique, and places it outdoors in a thunderstorm, they're unaware of the guidelines of nature. i've got on no account been a follower of Jerry Falwell. i'd guess that if he have been nonetheless alive he'd make some outrageous declare that God did it out of displeasure for what the liberals have finished to united states of america. That became into Falwell's rationalization of each and every thing undesirable. ...
