Is not "my way" instead of GOD's WAY the base root of all sin ?

Eve wanted to "be like GOD" and believed a lie.

What lies do you believe in, putting your will first instead of GOD's ?

Finances ? ( withholding a tithe )

Romance ? ( sexual sins )

Time ? ( doing your own thing instead of helping others )

Let me be the first to say >>> GUILTY AS CHARGED

"Selfishness is the child of Greed. Greed is the foundation of all evil actions."

( how can a person be greedy without looking out for themselves first ? )

"There is an old expression that says money is the root of all evil. This statement is false because sex crimes have nothing to do with money or monetary gain.
But you make a great point. All sin begins with the very selfish thought " my way", not God's way.

Well done. "

Thank You !

"I think pride is more accurate. Pride leads to selfishness. Pride is what says "I am like God" and when we think we are God...it's all downhill."

"We are told quite plainly in the Bible in 1Timothy 6:10 "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." For all your answers, go to the Bible. 1Thessalonians 5:21 "Prove all things, hold fast that which is good." Let the Bible be your answer, and don't rely upon what others say. "

Romans 14:23 (c)

" hmmmmm.... that's a good thought. It does make sense that selfishness is a root cause. That's a great point. Man, I can't top this topic. I was very selfish before I was a Christian, and in fact I'm still selfish. Just admitting. I can be more selfish to certain people, but not as much to others. I also have pride of a lot of things. I can't deny that once I did something because I felt like I deserve it. I am guilty. I'm a sinner. I don't deserve to go to Heaven, but with the grace of God, He has given me a chance. A chance to put faith in the Lord. Not only that, but He has forgiven me. God Bless! "

"Lack of faith in God causes one to attempt to rely only on one's self, and lack of faith can be directly attributed to failing to cooperate with God's grace.

That would make non-cooperation with God's grace the root cause of all evil, everywhere."

I totally and utterly agree!! Selfishness is the worst thing I can think of... that and pride. I know first hand the pain, suffering and death that can be caused by pride and selfishness. My own life was almost cut short many times by people who did not care about G-d and were very, very selfish. Even and especially within my own immediate family. They are not like that now, yet the horror still lingers because of long-term and life-long reprocussions (which I cannot even scarcely mention, because I have gone on...) Anyway, everything is o.k. now, but I am here to tell you that selfishness especially EXTREME selfishness or being at it's recieving end, in my opinion, hurts more than any other pain imaginable, and causes more destruction than murder! It feels more lonely and hopeless than I can describe. Selfishness is worse than death!!! I pray... G-d, would PLEASE, take my life before committing such an offence myself!!! By the grace of G-d, may my saviour Jesus, keep me safe!!!

True. Pride is at the core of most. The American "God" is supposed to be a butler, or a toothless grandmother.

Our life is to serve God.

America is a fallen nation.

I am also
GUILTY AS CHARGED!!

I have to say, the DA (that would be the Devil) has more than enough evidence to convict me. It is hopeless, I am lost.
Oh, but wait!!
Here comes my Public Defender, and guess what??
He is the Judge's Son!!
"Dad," He says, leaning over the bench, "You and I already made a deal on this prisoner. She belongs to me, as You promised."
"You may go," says the Judge to me, and Jesus takes my hand, and leads me to eternal life!!!!!
