Has anyone out there been diagnosed with lymphoma. My boyfriend has just been recently diagnosed with lymphoma. We are still in the dark as to what stage and which type it is, but we will find out. I was wondering if anyone can give me insight for what is ahead for us. How did you feel? What treatments did you go through? How did you feel going through them? I really want to support him through this and was just wondering what he might go through. Granted, I know not everone is the same, but any insight is good. Thank You.

I am a NHL survivor (Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma)
I went thru 1 year of treatments, no radiation. First you have to find out what stage the cancer is, and what your doctor recommends for a treatment. There are many options out there, ck out the website: Leukemia Lymphoma Society. Good info there.
Hang in there, this is something that is curable.

Just take one step at at time and te first is wait for the doctor to tell you exactly what is wrong. Depending on the diagnosis the treatment varies. I had Hodgkins Disease which is a form of a lymphoma and had just chemo but everyone is different. Just being there and being a friend no matter what makes the biggest difference. Its amazing what a hug or encouraging note can do. I got lots of them and at the exact moment I needed it. Once you get a diagnosis and know what is going on if you have any questions you can ask me. I had Hodgkin's Lymphoma, stage 4. It was all throughout my lympth nodes especially neck area but including armpits, groin area, also was in my liver and stomach. I had to undergo many tests, gallium scan, cat scan, muga scan(to see if heart is strong enough for certain chemo), etc., I know there were more but forgot the names. I had a port put in my right arm (they put it under skin to use during chemo treatments and drawing blood). I ended up going through 3 of them because my body kept rejecting them and they couldn't use them (If they can't draw blood from it then they wont do chemo at that time). They wanted me to go through a 4th time and I told them they were crazy so I made them use my veins (I had only a few more treatments, they prefer not to use veins because veins can harden and chemo can spill into veins and burn a little but I didn't have that problem. I had 4 drugs at a time every other week, they were ABVD (Adriamycin, Vinblastine, I forgot what the other 2 were), and I went for 12 treatments (6months). The chemo made me very tired and weak and extremely nauseaus. The only time I was happy was when I was sleeping because that was the only time I wasn't sick or in pain. Please have patience with him because he will need you, you sound like a wonderful girlfriend, and the two of you will get through this together.

Calm down. I know that's hard, hon. Modern medicine has great treatments out there. Lymphoma is a common type of cancer and much is known about it. Just be there for your bf, and talk to his doctor when you can. Chemo is rotten, but it will pass. It's been 3 years for me and I'm mostly back to normal, except for weight gain [due to prednisone].

Don't panic! You need to wait until the Doc gives you the type, stage and so on. It could be 'smoldering' in which case they will leave well alone for ten to twenty years.
