Yes, I do. I believe everything in the original context both in history and in the writings themselves. I believe that scripture gets to define itself.
I do not believe all that has been attached to them.
For example, the scripture does not give the age of the earth or creation. Men have reasoned from clues about varying ages, but there is no direct scripture that says that the earth is 6,000, 10,00 or or whatever old. So I believe that the Bible does not make an argument for a young universe or an old one. It just doesn't say.
Much of the "difficulty with the Bible" comes from people "reasoning from scripture" instead of taking it simply as it is, in the time it was written, and the audience it was written to.

Sure, I believe Eve and the snake had a conversation about apples in Genesis. Since people and snakes can no longer talk to each other, the Bible proves that people and snakes have evolved, and that evolution is true. (Don't believe the people that say Satan was talking through the snake. The Bible doesn't say that, and they are denying that the Bible is true.) Eve and Adam had two sons and one was killed, so the other evidently had a virgin birth just like Mary, unless he had incest with his mother. Must be true. It's the only explanation in the Bible.

Yes and no. You see, there is a lot that is lost in translation, mistranslated, or even out right edited. You really need to go back to the original languages and start from there. Go find a really good translation of the scriptures, I use one that certified by the counsel of biblical studies. It has great foot notes that take up half of each page telling you what the other versions say.
As for the stories, eh, whether or not they all happened is not what's important, its the message of love and forgiveness.
I really suggest that one studies it and not follow anything blindly, and do your self a favor and read some of the "naughty books", you know, the ones that the officials didn't want to be included in the bible. Oh, and throw out the book of Revelation, as it's got nothing to do with the church and everything about Cesar Nero. And if you use a King James version, then you really need a real bible, not some perversion or the scriptures by a king who thought he was the authority on the bible, when in fact he was crazy.

the bible to me can be a source of historical debate. I think if you look at some of the parts of the bible rationally and ask your self could someone walk on water, or part the the sea open. in those instances faith is brought to our attention. I do think that some of the characters of the bible are real but in my opinion the bible should be looked at as a inspirational guide and not entirely historically real.

I guess it depends on why you read it. Is it a factually accurate account of history. No, because there are internal inconsistencies. For example in
genesis we get two stories about Noah and the Ark. One account says he took seven of every kind of animal, and the other says he took two. I guess they both can't be right unless he took nine.
The Bible is a series of books about faith and people of faith. Read it for that truth. It was never intended to be a history book.

No. The Bible mentions books that are not found and comparing it to the original one, a lot is missing or changed.

I personally believe the Bible is nothing more than a collection of stories put together by people who were trying to control others during that time period.
They included everything that went along with their personal beliefs, and left out anything that said otherwise, in an attempt to get people to think as they did, and for the most part it's working.
