Why her? Was it random? If not, then why did God choose her? It would make sense if she was a goddess beforehand. Where in the bible explains this choosing?

dufus4,

excuse me, Mary was not free from original sin. that is a false doctrine.

when Jesus was born and of age, Mary had to bring him to tht temple and for herself too, to do the cleansing rites.

Mary is a human servant of God, like other great prophets, like Moses, Enoch(who did not see death), Elijah etc. she was faithful, and God knew that she would be faithful enough to care for the Son of God on earth.

do not make Mary divine. because on the day of Judgment, she will ask you, "i did not claim to be divine at all. why did you make me divine? i give glory to God alone"

God chose Mary for many reasons, it was certainly not random!!
First, Mary lived a holy lifestyle. Not as holy as Jesus, of course, but she honored and obeyed God with how she lived and she trusted him. This was an essential quality of the woman to raise Jesus, although Jesus already was holy anyway.
Secondly, Mary was located in just the right place. Ever heard "everything happens for a reason"? Well, it's true! Had Mary not given birth to Jesus, and a lady in, say, Nigeria, did, then prophecies wouldn't have been fufilled (predictions made before something actually happens) about the Savior coming from Nazareth. He also wouldn't have been a threat to specific people who ended up crucifying him. Although all things are possible with God, none of this would've happened unless God made some pretty big changes.
I hope I answered your question the way that you wanted it to be. God bless your curiosity!

No she was not random.

God was sending his son to bring salvation to the world, so just the opposite would be true. She would have been chosen and made more holy then any other woman. She was preserved from original sin. She was the new Eve and Christ the new Adam. The original Eve was created without sin, so Mary too was created without sin. Where Eve said no to God, Mary said yes.

God knew before the world was created that man would sin, that he would need a savior and that the Savior would be born of a sinless woman. This does not mean she didn't have free will she did...same as Eve. Only she chose to make the will of God her own.

Well the most high "Yah" chose Mary or Mariam to be the mother of Yahshua or Yahoshua (true name of the massiYah) because as it states in (John 7:42) that the massiYah would come from the seed of David (hebrew Dawid). Mary was of the seed of David and she completed prophecy of a virgin birth. Now for the age question. A girl was considered a woman when she was able to bare a child or when she started her menstrual cycle. I know this may be hard to believe because of the current state of the world but we now live in wicked in perverted times. Girls were taught from a young age on how to be a woman and how to take care of a man. Now days we have women acting like little girls.

It was not random. It is part of prophesy. Jesus had to be born of the lineage of David. See Matthew 1:1-17 and Luke 3:28-38

God chose Mary because she had already chosen to cooperate fully with the abundant grace he provided to her, from the moment of her conception, by rejecting Satan, and all his works.

If she had not done this, Mary would not have been a suitable mother for the sinless Jesus.

See Luke 1:1

God made certain promises to Israel about their Messiah.

1) "I will put emnity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed" -- Gen 3:15. note that in Hebrew society, "seed" always refered to the offspring of the man, as in "Abraham's seed". this refers to having no man involved: Mary was a virgin. also check Isaiah 7:14

2) why her specifically? likely it was that she had the right conditions. God also promised David that one of his descendants would "be on the throne forever" and that the Christ would be called the son of David: "a branch out of David". check Isiah 9:1-7 and Isaiah 11:1-5. She was engaged to Joseph, a descendant of David, the son of Jesse

3) she was willing to serve the Lord, had faith and of course, was related to Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist, Jesus' forerunner. she also may have been chosen because of a good relationship with Elizabeth, who was old, which does end a good spiritual message about generational ties.

basically she found favor with the Lord

I think she was in the line of King David, which the bible says Jesus would come from. I know Joseph was decended from King David, it mentions that in Matthew. I'm pretty sure it mentions somewhere that Mary was from that line as well.

According to the gospel of Matthew--the House of David genealogy goes back to Joesph(Matthew 1:16) --Mary's husband--Immanuel was their 1st child .

She was chosen because of her great faith in and obedience to God, and her lineage being of the line and house of David, and above all grace, she was chosen by grace - she needed a Savior as well.
