I had a root canal done on Friday & since then my jaw has been very tender & sore. My mouth is actually getting quite infected at this point because at night I have been grinding my teeth (and cheek: also taking out chunks of it). I know it all sounds grosse but I really need help with the matter.

I've rinsed with warm, salt water. I've been taking T3's, extra strength advil, and extra-strength aspirin (and also antibiotics) that the doctor prescribed.

I'm still swollen, hurting, and out of pills at this point.
Any ides?

I have a botle or perks (perkisets?) that I'm going to try; I just phoned my doctor & have an appointment tomorrow before work.

Thanks.

you should make another appointment with your doctor, how long have you been taking the antibiotics? if you are out of pills for pain you should contact your doctor and also contact your doc with you concerns for infection and overall pain and swelling in your jaw and the "bruxing" (teeth grinding) you do at night talk to the doc to see if they can do anything for that.

good luck

I have been in your shoes. I had a root canal done and it got infected. Call your doctor NOW. I ended up having to get the tooth pulled. CALL NOW before it gets worse. Your doc may be able to save your tooth if you don't wait too long. PLEASE don't wait till the infection and pain are out of control - it is SO NOT worth it!!

The first thing you have to do is call the doctor that did it, it shouldn't be this bad 5 days later, and I think you something slightly stronger than T3, maybe upgrade to vicodin or lortab.

Good Luck

you have to contact the oral surgeon as soon as possible. You're going to need more medication (antibiotics) and the doctor needs to be made aware of what is going on with you. the doctor is the only person who can help you with this condition at this time.

Go to the ER and they will sometimes give you some pain meds. They treat mouth pain the same as any other pain because the mouth and pain will affect you just the same.

when I had my wisdom teeth cut out I was in miserable crazy pain. I would wet a towel and put it in the microwave to get it warm and put that on my jaws - it helped tremendously.
