2 things i needed to know, first is how to cook it. an second i tried to make some last night an i didnt wash it off, wondering if that is bad. an when i was cooking it, there was this tiny piece that was still not cooked all the way, the actual grain was cooked, but there was this little curly piece that wouldnt cook. is this normal?

Quinoa should be rinsed before cooking because it is coated with a bad tasting substance. It is the plants natural defense mechanism. The "curly piece" is ok..you see it after the grain is cooked. All seeds are "baby" plants. You know how you open beans and can see little leaves? That is same thing with the quinoa. It is normal! :)

You are supposed to cook it just like pasta - in a big pot of boiling water. Just test it every so often for doneness. It will still be a little chewy when it's done because it's a whole grain. The little squiggly thing is supposed to be there.
