There are so many religions. Why can't we all fuse into one. It might seem impossible, but with everyone motivated, it really isnt. For you people who dont want to create one religion, what are your reasons?

There are many different religions because there are many different types of people, and they have different needs that their religion satisfies.

Additionally, religion involves understanding the unknowable. Since we can't have an objective standard to evaluate the validity of any particular religious belief, there would be no motivation to fuse the many faiths into one faith.

This suggestion is virtually impossible. Everyone worldwide has different beliefs and opinions on all things and I'm certain there would be chaos if we were to merge into one religion. People argue all the time about "the one true religion" and such but such people are ignorant and simple minded.
In politics too! Liberals and conservatives. Republicans and democrats. What if they were to fuse? There would be no rule or point in government. All would be in ruins. I myself am Pagan. I'm not really going to through my morals and ethics out the window for someone else's. There is no one true religion, everyone's beliefs are important and special and it makes us unique. Should we all merge into one race next or one species?
No, motivation isn't enough. This is a question of morality. There are those who have died for their beliefs, and if you think there wouldn't be a problem with this then you need to open your eyes. There is no way this can ever happen.
Whether you think this is a good idea or not, I won't force my opinion on you, that is the point of my debate, but don't have any hope that this will ever have any chance of happening.

If a person already feels that he knows the truth, then fusing heretical teachings from other religions is basically a slap in the face to his God. Not to mention, there a lot of people who maintain social/politcal/economic power through religion. These people do not want their power diluted in any way.

Tell me which one has ALL the answers not just some of them.
Which one is the correct one?
How do you merge all the different thoughts and beliefs into one acceptable religion that will have God's approval?

As others have pointed out there is that little notion called free will.

Why can't I snap my fingers and have "Paul Walker" (a serious hunk) fall in love with me? The answer is "Free Will".

I'm not saying it cannot be done ... but rather more "Courtships", "Healing" of borders, and "World Peace" need to align to get us there. Historically, religion unites people, and some person with an agenda comes and uses religion in un-holy manners. Althought we (the decendents) of the wrong-do'er (sinner) didn't do it ... we still need to reach out and make friends and fellowship.

You can't just club someone and say, "LOVE". It doesn't work that way ... you have to be selfless and find ways to make the others more comfortable.

There is no way to merge all religions into one. There are too many different Gods and Goddesses and different beliefs and standards, too many cultural differences.
Besides what a dull world this would be if everyone was the same.

I think it's as pointless as making everybody wear the same sized shoe. Some religions have very different tenets on a fundamental level. Even so called "universal" religions like the Unitarians, as vague as they are, have things I disagree with.

Because people are different. One set of rules can not make everyone happy. We can't even agree on physical things. Like which is better pizza or ice cream. We can't agree on which is more important individual rights or the state. Getting everyone to agree on the intangible is impossible.

Religions arise from the fact that humans have never been capable of agreeing on how they should worship God. If there was one common way to see God there would be no need for religion.

Because you wouldn't find one religion that suited everyone's beliefs.

Even within Christianity there are numerous denominations, and they're all theoretically following the same book and the same God.

What makes you think that you can then add in religions that don't even have THAT much in common?
