Nothing, unless you're taking the driving test. I've been driving with one hand or my knee for 40 years w/o any problem.

Depends on what you find comfortable after you have some experience under your belt. I use a variety of positions because a single positon becomes tiring on a long drive. Generally, it's mostly a one-hand position with that hand doing most of the work, with the other hand below and opposite helping out on turns.

They say it is the best way to keep control of your steering wheel and avoid serious injury by the air bag in case there's an accident. If you keep them at 10 and 2 theres a chance for serious injury to your hands and arms. If you are keeping your hands in your lap instead of 9 and 3 well...

9 and 3 I was always told 10 and 2. and really nothing happens but in those positions you have the best grip to reaction to a sudden change and can hold the wheel firmly or quickly turn left or right without repositioning your hands

its 10 and 2, and nothing really. thats just a strategy for beggining drivers so that they can get a feel of the car better. if you ask me, 10 and 2 is uncomfortable and cramps my arms, so i tend to drive with one and firmly gripping the wheel and one hand just barely on the wheel. depends on the driver

There's a good chance you'll get your wrists broken if your airbags happen to deploy. 9 and 3 are the safest place for your hands to be.
