I think there are many parts of the bible that are applicable today.
I like a lot of the parts of Proverbs such as
Proverbs 15:13 A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance,
But by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken
Proverbs 16:24 Pleasant words are like a honeycomb,
Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.
Proverbs 19:1 Better is the poor who walks in his integrity
Than one who is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
There are many more in Proverbs and in many parts of the bible that are applicable today. What I like about Proverbs is that they are timeless "sayings" that can help guide a person on how to live and treat others.

wow that other guy spams like an idiot...
anyway
My favorite prophecy or whatever you want to call it is when the "Army" (of the people) of Heaven is in the tent in the center of all the Satan worshippers, and etc.
and then there would be God holding them all off and showing them which one of the two are truly good.
it got to me.
and it's freaky because that same day my friend had a dream about a war type thing with an army of black (indicating evil) and an army of white (indicating good and Heaven and etc.) at about the same time i was reading it!
tell me that's a coincidence...

this would apply directly to the wall street wizards. (I know you're really trying to make a point about "socialism, and democrats, and those "commies" , but put in in it's proper context...) yes, he meant it as written to assure his thoughts known on an "intrusive" gov't. and "intrusive Gov'ts @ the time were "monarchies" it means those who make freeload off of others labor are parasites... wall street...

Matthew 7:5 "You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye."
That one will never go out of fashion.

Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. [Matthew 7:12]
Most religions have some form of this in their beliefs, so it seems to be one of those cross-theological ideals.

"Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you...do to others as you would have them do to you" - Luke 6
This quote explains itself. Though it is simple to say, it is quite hard to execute. If we all worked a little harder to love each other just a little more, regardless of another's actions, we might find the world a much happier place to be.

In an age of fashion, cosmetic surgery, Pop Idol, Love Island, and the widespread cults of celebrity and conspicuous consumption?
"Vanity of vanities," says the preacher,
"Vanity of vanities! All is vanity." ( Ecc 1:2)

Seek the Lord while He may be found.
A time comes when the day of salvation will no longer be.
