Well not only that, if Jesus is God, and God is immortal than how the heck did Jesus die in the first place? I think he just hung out at the pub for a few days and then came back around.

The question you ask is short, but the answer is not since it encompasses the whole of human history. I can explain it to you, but you would need more space and time than alotted here. Know this for starters. If Jesus merely snapped His fingers to rid the world of sin and return to heaven, would this prove His love for you? Or would you understand the depths of His love for what He has done in taking your place. For in sin we only deserve eternal death, but He suffered the full force of this in our stead.
As far as the other comment that I read on this site, someone asked if Jesus were God and God is immortal, then how could He die? The answer does take some study. Yet, for starters know this. The Divine Word of God (which cannot die) experienced death in His (Jesus') flesh. Do not get the idea that the Divine Word of God was wearing Jesus as a skin suit. The Divine and human nature of Jesus is in harmony and united. The Divine experienced all that death is, but since the Divine cannot die, death could not conquer. And so, the humanity of Jesus is raised and saved from death. Since, the Divine Word of God, Jesus, took on human flesh, then all humanity is redeemed in Him.
Now none of this may make sense to you and it may sound confusing, but I have had 12 years of theological study and can quickly grasp the subtly of Christs teaching. This does not mean I am better than you. I just have more experience and therefore more accountable for what I do with that knowlege. For you to understand you would need the same teaching and time to know and that cannot be properly provided on the internet chat sites. I hope you do find someone to study and speak with. May the Lord bless and keep you. May the light of His face shine upon you.

God's and your beast of burden

That's a really good question. He had to die to make taking our sins complete. You see, the penalty for sin is death and going to hell. So Jesus came, showed us how we can be born again by beleiving in Him and having a reliationship with Him. Then He was crucified, went to hell, then on day 3 he rose from the dead. Then his job here was complete. So, if we beleive in Jesus and ask Him into our lives, then we will be saved. Which means we are forgiven of all past sin. Of course we will still "slip up" and sin, but we can ask for forgivness and move on without worrying about going to hell when we die. Pretty sweet deal huh?! (:

But then why couldn't God just make everything ok without all that "drama"? Because when God made us he gave us our own free will. He wants us to love Him because we want to not because we have too. That is why He made us to begin with.

This is a very profound philosophical question. You need to not only have a deep understanding of human psychology , human nature and history of mankind.

"It is easy to just deliver a message, repeal sins and head home. "

Review all the well known figures in history- Gandhi, Nobel, Schweitzer, They all delivered a message, but none of their messages stood the test of time. None of them were able to repeal sins and head home or return.

Jesus represents a permanent fixture in everybody's mind. Even now he remains a controversial figure, ie; The passion of Christ, Jesus Christ Superstar,. Even the X,Y< Z generation treks to the movies to see Him.

He had stopped delivering His message by our estimate of time but His message continues. Why? Because it is deep in the consciousness of mankind the lessons that He taught all. The Forgiveness of Sins, and Love one another as I have loved you.

He needs to die because this is God's command to Him that He obeyed. This shows us how to be obedient to God's will.

He died not because os His own sins or fault but he took upon Him our sins, our greed, our lust for power, our nastiness, meanness, pettiness. How did I know that? This was what the Pharicees and Saducees was all about when they crucified Him. They projected all these sins to Him and saw him die to deny their own sins.

Then he head home.to give you and me an opportunity to learn from Him , be passive, be at peace with yourself, identify all these bad sins within us and purge them from ourselves . Then when He returns for the second coming, you will see the difference -Nice Guys Finish first to Christ , it matters, and not to this evil world.

If God simply forgave sins outright, then that would send people the message that sin was no big deal. God had to show the world how seriously he views sin. God's sense of justice demands that someone somewhere should pay for sin.

It also gave God a chance to show how much he loved us --love requires sacrifice, and God really couldn't sacrifice anything else (Destroying the Earth, for example, would not be much of a sacrifice since he could have made another -- he needed to sacrifice something irreplaceable).

Jesus had to die because God is not only loving, but also JUST. Scripture says that the penalty for sin (which is something every human on earth, even me, does all the time) is death. By dying, Jesus transfered that death penalty onto Himself for all who would believe in Him. Not only was the believer's death sentence transfered onto Jesus, but Jesus' ability and desire to do good (called Righteousness) is transfered to the believer. Quite a trade!
In other words:
A courtroom judge who just repealed and dismissed every criminal who came in front of him wouldn't be a good judge. God, being a good and just god, must punish sin (crimes against God). But since He's also loving, He chose to offer an escape from that justice. Jesus pays our fine (death), so justice is served, and we get to spend eternity with God in His kingdom!

It's the atonement. It is the ultimate acknowledgement that "mankind" is incapable of living sinless. Christ was the ultimate sacrifice, guiltless or as was required of animal sacrifices at the time, without blemish. The symbolism is the ultimate sacrifice for the whole of mankind. Sins were not repealed, but rather forgiven.

According to the bible, this is why...

Hebrews 9:22 (English Standard Version)
"Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins."

Death is a profound event. Had Jesus preached his words, they may have been easily forgotten and you may not even know of him to this day. However, he was martyred. He died, which had a huge affect on those that respected him and cared for him. That powerful effect, coupled with the very momentous action of returning from death, is enough to make a lasting impression where words would never suffice.

Because in the old testement the Jews had to make a atonement for their sins, they had to sacrifice a lamb, bull,, or to shed blood for the remission of their sin.. However, an animal couldn't account for the sins of man, God need a perfect human being to be sacrificed for our sins.. So he sent the Son of GOd Jesus to die for the world sins. he was the lamb the sacrifice.. i suggest you should read the OT and NT of the bible it explain everythings,,,

12Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?

13But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:

14And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.

15Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.

16For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:

17And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

18Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.

19If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

20But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

21For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

22For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

23But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
