I was hit by another driver in a parking lot, it was in no way my fault. Am I still responsible for the deductible or does the at fault driver (or thier insurance) pay for it?

Megs,

If you make a claim through your insurance and have your vehicle fixed, you will have to pay the deductible up front. Your insurance will get your deductible back from the other driver's insurance and send you a check if it is found that the other driver was 100% at fault. Sometimes the other driver's insurance will offer to take care of everything so you don't have to make the claim through your insurance or they will offer to send you the amount of the deductible immediately.

Good luck!

If the other driver is found liable and his insurance pays then no you donot have to pay the deductible. The whole idea behind having insurance is that when someone else is at fault it should be no money out of your pocket due to their insurance paying for the repairs.

It can go a few ways.

If the other person has insurance, then you do not pay for your deductible. However, this could take a while to settle.

If you pay your deductible, you will get it reimbursed at a later point. This option allows your car to be fixed quicker.

Did you get a police report? If so take it to the other guys company and demand they fix your car. I would also ask for a rental reimbursement while your car is in the shop. If you file a claim you are responsible for the deductable. I would do the footwork on my own and save yourself the deductable.

I hope there was an accident report made,if not you may end up paying for your deductible.Insurance requires a report to settle your claim and if the other person denies responsibility they may even raise your rates. 25 years Autobody repair
