It may depend on the state, but for the most part, yes you can. Your property is not considered "public" although laws to vary and like anything else, if you are causing a problem or your behavior affects those off your property, you'd probably have a problem!

In the backyard. Most municipalities have laws about drinking in public view which precludes drinking in the front yard when you can be seen from a public street. One of the dumber laws ever put on the books imo, and seldom enforced. If I want to have a beer while working in my front yard, I'm going to have a beer.

Depends on where you live. Some city ordinances state that alcoholic beverage containers may not be visible to the public. That means that you have to have it in a cup or mug and not in the labeled container.
Check with your local officials for the laws in your area.
And yes! You can get charged with PD (Public Drunk) on your own property.

absolutely. as long as you are 21, you can drink on your own property unless you cause a problem for your neighbors. but as soon as you step in the street or on the sidewalk with a beer, look out.

there might be some wierd local law, but none that i know of anywhere.

Technically no, most states and cities have laws against public consumption- but unless you're causing a ruckus nobody's really going to enforce it.
