I have mixed feelings...I live in Texas and there are a lot here...but they do the kind of work that no one else wants to do...and the biggest problem is the business owners who don't want to pay a fair wage to legal workers...they would rather pay under the table and make more money...example...the apt complex where I live was hit by a tornado on 12/29/06....several buildings had to be gutted and rebuilt on this inside...it's an old complex, 30 years maybe, and has asbestos in the walls and ceiling...you KNOW that you are suppose to wear protective gear while removing that stuff...well the contractor had a bunch of illegals over here removing that stuff...it was bagged in clear plastic bags and moved to an enclosed dumpster that had hazardous warnings all over it...but not one single illegal wore any kind of protective gear...I could not believe it! So I have mixed thoughts on it...this country needs a solution but unfortunately someone is going to be left out as we cannot please everyone....

Illegal immigration would not raise a question of believers and atheists. This is both a Humanitarian and Country policy issue. It is however true that churches have become more activists for immigration( legal or illegal), but there are many other independant organizations highly involved in this. My opinion on this is that every country has laws and immigrants have to comply with those laws. At the same time, if the law fails to stop illegal immigration, governments should focus on the intragration of illegal immigrants for humanitarian reasons. The harm to human dignity in forcing someone to quite the country he just illegally immigrated in is greater than what a country may suffer from a violation of an immigration law. At the other hand, illegal immigrants must accept to take a step to integrate the new society. Question of being human and civic, believers or atheists.

I don't think it's a black and white issue.

While I sympathise with people who come into the country illegally because of problems at home I also understand the strain this places on the economies of the areas they come into.

While I appreciate many people don't like it I think it's a bit rich to celebrate a booming economy and then complain if others want to come here to benefit from it.

I think that here in Europe there are many people leaving and not just people coming in. But people choose to see it as a one-sided flow.

The only strong feelings I have on the subject is my dislike for those who traffick people, exploiting their misery and taking their money, sometimes to leave them worse off than before.

I think they should be shot...

There are people that wait years to get over here the fair and just way... and sometimes dont even make it that long...

Then you have the border jumpers that get here in a day, and do not have to pay a dime for insurance, health care, housing, taxes... etc...

it isnt fair...

either shoot them, or send them to a confinement facility to hold them for 8 yrs... cuz that is about how long alot of people have to wait...

Don't like it personally. We've got enough people to take care of as is. In addition, illegal immigritants allow immoral businesses to work them at near slave wages, hurting the economy.

I used to not care one bit but then people who are BREAKING the law wanted more rights than the one's they already have. When they did those swift raids and they were calling them victims I got pretty annoyed.
