If you had reserved and paid for the tickets online, you could view and print your itinerary and receipt from united.com

You could just bring the printout to the airport with your ID (passport or drivers license) and (optionally the credit card you used for the purchase) to check-in to get your boarding pass.

You could even print your boarding pass by loggin online on the day of your flight.

You can often check in online for your flight 24 hours before departure thru the airline's website, and you print out your own boarding passes. Otherwise, take your photo id and your reservation number to the ticket counter at the airport on your day of departure.

Not sure if United Airlines are the same as the majority, but you can expect that you won't get the tickets to check in. They would have sent you an email (or the final page of you paying online would have given you it) to see the booking reference number. You quote this number at check in and they will give you your boarding card then! ;-)

I believe you have option A or B. You should have a itinerary number that you will take to the airport. Take it to the appropriate airline ticket desk and they'll check your bag, give you a boarding pass and viola! good to go. B is that I have seen some self service kiosks at the airport check in but I don't know if you can use those to receive your boarding pass or not..

Depends.. if you got an e-ticket, you don't actually get the ticket. You just get the boarding pass when it comes in. Most airlines nowadays do e-tickets instead of paper tickets. It's less likely that it'll be lost or misplaced. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure that tickets will arrive before your actual day of departure :)

You probably will have an e-ticket and that is all you will need. have a drivers license and report to the ticket counter, you are ready to go, they dont issue the hard paper tickets any more.

You should be able to print out online copies, which you would show to the people at the airport for more updated versions.

You can use the Kiosk machine. You'll need a drivers license or a state ID. Sometimes a visa.
