Using scare tactics on atheists seems a little stupid to me. Let me try to put it into perspective to you Christians. If a scientologist came up to you Christians and said if you don't accept scientology as your main religion, you will go to scientology hell, whatever that is. Would that scare you into converting to scientology? I didn't think so. Well that’s how atheists feel when Christians use scare tactics on them. Now I know not all Christians think this way. When I say Christian, I mean fundamentalist wackos.

I feel that people who use scare tactics to try and get people to convert over to their religion are missing something and are inevitably hurting themselves. Nothing good can come from strong arming someone into any religion, and I mean ANY religion.

I suspect it's a result of the same scare tactic working so well on the person currently trying to scare/bully us into going along with em. The "logic", if put into words would likely go something like:
"Crap! I just realized, almost ALL the other preachers say 'believe me, or you'll go to hell'!! Gosh, if I don't get others to go along with the same line, it'll be pretty obvious that I'm a gullible sucker!! I've gotta scare others into my way of thinking, and QUICKLY!"
LoL. A cynical way to put it, I know. but closer to reality than about any other spin you'll find.

I'm sorry that Christians have come at you with an attitude like that. Christians aren't perfect and shouldn't try to act like they are. We screw up, say wrong things, and we also have plenty of sin in our lives. The only difference is that we look to God for our forgiveness, salvation and grace. As I have said many times before, you dont have to believe in God but if he is real your'e missing out! If you don't believe in him and he's not real what do you have to lose? I guarantee you that if you pursued God with an open mind and heart he would touch you and change you completely. You will find a peace that you have never known and your entire perspective on life and this world and people in this world would completely change. WHY NOT? WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO LOSE?

I'm a Christian, and I will admit there are some Christians out there that are a bit "extreme". I can say this, we (us Christians) feel really passionate about our religion...once you become a Christian, its like a veil has been lifted over your eyes, and have been let in on the most coolest secret in the world...and all we want to do is share that message. The problem lies with people who just don't know how to share that message effectively.

BOO!

just kidding

If you are scared by them (as people), then they are not following Christ's lead. If they instill a sense that you should submit to God (what the bible calls "fear of the Lord"), and in turn you feel "convicted in your heart to repent", then they are true Christians. Real Christians accomplish this with love and patience:

"Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth" -- 2 Tim 2:25 NIV

Here is the bottom line:

I am not trying to scare anyone.

I am only sharing what I know is true.

All of the biblical prophecy that has been fulfilled to date has been 100% accurate.

SO what I would say is to arm yourself with knowledge.

It is out of love an compassion that I as a Christian would share what the bible says. Not as a scare tactic but as sharing something that is vitally important.

First off, the person who threatens hell is an idiot, because God is the judge, none of us, and secondly, any atheists upset by being told they're going to a hell they don't even believe in can't have all their marbles in one basket.

I don't use scare tatics, I simply tell the Truth.

The Good News is Jesus came to save us from destruction.

If you don't have the blood of Christ covering you, you should be scared.

I wouldn't scare anyone into believing what I believe. It's up to the individual what they do or don't believe. All I can do is tell them what I believe and leave it up to that person to either believe or disbelieve what I say. It's ridiculous to try and cram one's beliefs down someone else's throat!
