I can't find what i want. I want a overnight receptionist job. So im thinking of placing an ad in the paper that im looking and to pass the word for someone to call me. Do you think thats silly? I think it will catch someones attention. All types of people from different companies look for a job and they might have an opening. In which case i just want them to call me and let me know. I was thinking of putting it in the classified section. Who knows someone might be quitting there job.

Employers generally don't go through the want ads to find employees. They advertise positions or it's up to you to contact them. Now if you want an overnight receptionist position, then you should be focusing on companies who have those hours.

For example, a company that's open 9 to 5 wouldn't have a need for an overnight receptionist. But a hotel, hospital, or delivery service would be better bets as they're open morning, day, and night.

So my advice to you is not waste your time placing an ad that nobody will see and really care about. Instead, directly contact companies that are open in the nighttime hours and let them know what you want. Maybe they don't have a job advertisied, but know somebody will be leaving in the future, so you hit them at the right time. Or perhaps, they'll make a spot for you.

You stand a much better chance approaching them than waiting for them to come to you!
