As I mention in my interviewing book, an objective isn't necessary! The decision to use it is totally up to you and is to let an interviewer know what you want.

Now if you're applying to retail businesses, then they already know you want a retail job. So an objective might not be needed. Instead, you could use that space to sell yourself to the employer!

But if you want a specific type of work, say management and not sales, then your objective can state that. Or if you want full and not part-time, it could mention that.

In other words, I suggest only putting an objective when it's really needed. If you're open to anything and everything that's retail, then I would suggest leaving it off.

If you don't like the job they have, then you're free to turn it down.
