And then reject that image and say there is no God.

If i did that I'd be atheist as well.

You say God is an invention of the human mind.
Well, if that were so I'd reject that invention.

Well, maybe YOU get what your point is...

You put forth three undefined opinions in that question
1) project - what do you mean by that?
2) cramped - how exactly are atheists cramped? Is it a generalization?
3) the cosmos? Cosmo Kramer? Cosmo the clown? the known universe? the infinite universe? what

What is clear is a close mindedness to the beliefs of others. Come on brother, open up and share that love of Christ unconditionally - that would be a lot more likely to spark the curiousity of others than a pimp slap with a leather book.

I'm an atheist, and I stand in wonder and awe at the scale of the universe, from the gorgeous immensity of a spiral galaxy to the wonder of the minuscule wave/particle that is an electron.

I am an insignificant speck in a vast cosmos, and that is a wonder and a comfort to me.

Though my soul shall die in darkness it shall rise in perfect light/ I have loved the stars too deeply to be fearful of the night.

They don't. Christians and Jews do--they like to think that God, Who created the entire vast universe, looks like a human being, and acts like one too. What does God need eyes or a nose for? Why would God be male or female?

Carl, no one understands what you are saying. Even after adding your additional details, your question doesn't seem an inquiry. Are you asking how seemingly reasonable people can see the same things you see, and come to completely different conclusions? It seems to come from entering into the discussion with fundamentally different assumptions.

being an atheist is the most free and uncramped a person can get...we do not live inside a little god box like you theists do and as such, are not subject to the laws of gods...only the laws of man.

"project my cramped self unto the cosmos"?

How I do that??? ... What that mean? ... What you want?

[Edit]: Re Add. Dtls.: You say God Creator of human mind.
Well, if that were so I'd accept that Creator. ... (Yes, a very stupid and illogical "argument", but it's yours, not mine.)

I think you lot dream up these contrived and senseless statements knowing that no one can reasonably respond to them and then chalk it up as a victory for belief in God. The statement is of course complete bullsh!t.

I have no idea how you got your basis for your assertion? In what way does anyone project themselves on the cosmos? This is just nonsense. Rephrase.
