The wedding is in July, I'm wearing lace, it's more formal than casual, our theme if I had to sum it up would be "vintage." Any ideas using feathers (like peacock feathers, goose biots, etc.) or pearls? I'd like to stay away from flowers and tulle.

I know you don't want to do flowers, but something like this would be lovely for a vintage, formal wedding:

You could also do little frames with words in them like happiness, joy, love, together, etc.

Wreaths would also work:

I found something really great looking, especially for a vintage theme. It doesn't have peacock feather or pearls, but i'm sure you could incorporate them in some way. I thought it was lovely for such a theme.

I hope it helps, just use the link!

Best of luck!

if you're wearing lace, maybe incorporate lace into the decoration. not too much--that'd be overkill. i think peacock feathers are some of the most beautiful things out there. since i'm not you, i can't picture how it would look or fit in with the rest of the wedding "theme", but it certainly sounds unique to you and your style, which is the most important thing of all.

I like the idea of the feathers, but you could also find or make vintage looking lace hand held fans and attach them (fanned out) on the side of each pew..or every other pew.

For my niece's wedding, they put white candles at the end of each pew and after the bride and bride's party entered, an usher on each side of the church lit all the candles on his side of the church. It was simple and quite beautiful. After the minister pronounced them man and wife, the ushers extinguished the candles so there would be no chance of any of the wedding party setting flame to the ends of their long dresses on the way back up the aisle.

We had a similar wedding and, like you, opted for something a bit different. We chose to dim the lights and use tea lights in beautiful small glass/crystal candle holders placed at the ends of the pews. The effect was beautiful and generated many comments on the beauty and simplicity of the glow.
Hope your wedding is wonderful.

Why don't you just bunch up some of the peacock feathers and tie those to the pews with a piece of lace. Simple but most likely elegant.

Go to your local craft store. They will have all kinds of large feathers and stuff that could inspire you. Here in our town, we have a store called Garden Ridge that is filled with flowers and craft stuff. If you have a store like that, walk through it and get inspired! :)

Also, go to the local flea market and see what you can see there. There might be some vintage items for sale that inspire you. :)

Good luck! :)

Not sure about the examples you suggested....but when you said "vintage".....I thought of making a coat of arms....one for each pew......I bet you could research your last name....(your name-to-be) and come up with some cool history....or have each one be a different branch of your family tree.....ask everyone on both sides of the family to participate....submitting photos and memorobilia, it would be unique, not to mention a great keepsake for you and your new hubby.

Good luck!

How about small hand mirrors with a lace bow at the end of each pew. Then string pearl garland between the pews in a swag. Links below.... Sounds very romantic!! Best wishes.

ps. you could then give each bridesmaid and significant woman in your life who is at your wedding one of the hand mirrors as a" thank you for loving me" gift
