To please God and Christ.
Jehovah's Witnesses would go from door-to-door even if there were no hope that anyone would change their religion, or even if no one would listen to them!
That is because Jesus Christ specifically assigned the house-to-house ministry to the Christian congregation, with no regard for specific results.
(Luke 10:1,2) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.
Jehovah's Witnesses are trained to direct attention to the bible, and move on when their message is unwanted. Since each congregation in the United States tries to call at every home in its territory at least twice each year, there is strong motivation for them to move on where little interest is shown. Also, the Scriptures help the Witnesses to expect little interest from most:
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching ...and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

The goal of JW's teachings and practices is to save people like Carol D and Patricia!
LOL!!!
Sorry to all JW. I know you treat people with kindness even if you are being attacked verbally. Well, i'm not a JW so i am exempted!

To fulfill the commission given to ALL Christians found at Matthew 24:14,"And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come."

To share the good news of God's Kingdom with all who will listen by following Christs example and command.
Those who fail to do this and know that they should, proceed to "beat their fellow slaves" verbally (Matthew 24:48-49)
They imitate Satan the Devil, the father if the lie, (John 8:44) by employing false accusations and half truths.

Just as 'danni' stated, we are doing just as Jesus and his disciples did.
They went from door to door and house to house (Acts 5:41,12) to preach about God's coming kingdom brought out at Daniel 2:44.
Jesus' commission was to "tell good news to the meek ones," to "bind up the brokenhearted," to "comfort all the mourning ones." (Matthew 28:19; Isaiah 61:1, 2; Luke 4:18, 19) Jehovah's Witnesses seek to do this by declaring the good news from the Bible.
We love using the bible (really any bible will do) to teach about our loving creator. Just as 2 Timothy 3:16 states, that all scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, disciplining, setting matters straight, and so forth. We like for others to gain a better understanding of what the Bible really teaches.
And if others don't listen to the message we preach, we hope we can show others by the way we dress, act, and conduct ourselves that we really are avid bible students of Jehovah God.
Hope this helped to answer your question some.

As one of Jehovah's Witnesses I ask that you disregard all the rubbish that those who know no better have written.
Jesus Christ himself preached to the people about his heavenly Father and about his Father's coming Kingdom.Jesus taught his disciples to do the same.(Acts.5:42,20:20)
Before Jesus went to heaven he commanded his followers to "Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations,......teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you......"
Why??
John17:3 "This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you,the only true God and of the one whom you sent,Jesus Christ" and
Mat.24:24:"This good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth, for a witness to all the nations and then the end will come."
What we are doing is in obedience to Christ's command. It is a life saving work. Our aim is to try and reach as many people as we can with the Good News of God's Holy Word before Jehovah brings destruction upon this wicked system of things.

As has been stated, the goal of our teachings is to help them get started on the road to everlasting life. As John 17:3 says: "This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ."
Our practices have multiple goals, the most important of which is to give Jehovah a reply for Satan, as indicated in Proverbs 27:11 - "Be wise, my son, and make my heart rejoice, that I may make a reply to him that is taunting me."
We also want to do God's will NOW and FOREVER. - as the Bible teaches:
"Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will." - Matthew 7:21.
"Furthermore, the world is passing away and so is its desire, but he that does the will of God remains forever." - 1-John 2:17.
"After [Jesus] had been made perfect he became responsible for everlasting salvation to all those obeying him." - Hebrews 5:9.

To help others come to accurate knowledge of the Bible.
Our goal isn't to "convert" as many as we can, as some may claim, but to encourage Bible reading and study and the honest desire to understand the Bible and the hope it holds out for mankind.
That's why we keep coming back- we don't want your money! We are just demonstrating the love that Christians should have for others, as well as fulfilling the command Jesus gave to his followers in Matthew 28:19,20.
We "desire all to attain to repentance." :0)
*I just LOVE how people who are NOT Witnesses claim to know more about my faith than I do.
Carol D: You are absolutely ridiculous! There is no "punishment" for not meeting the national average- it's simply a statistic that we use to gage our advancement in the ministry.
I really do wish people would keep their inaccurate propaganda to themselves.*
