The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a Christian Church, but it is not Catholic and it is not Protestant.

The Latter-day Saints believe in God the Eternal Father, and in His Son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. They believe that they are 3 separate and distinct beings. Anyone who says differently doesn't know anything about the Church.

'Protestantism' encompasses the forms of Christian faith and practice that originated with the doctrines of the Reformation. Since the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was not organized until long after the Reformation, it does not fall under this category. The Latter-day Saints see themselves as Restorationists, instead.

The LDS church is a restoration of the gospel that Jesus Christ taught.
Protestantism is a break away from the Catholic church. Look up Martin Luther.

What????
There seems to be a lot of ignorance on what LDS actually believe.
We certainly do believe that Jesus is the Son of God. We do not believe they are the same being. That is why we do not believe in the Trinity. Jesus, the Holy Ghost and our Father in Heaven were manifested as different entities at Jesus' baptism.

Read your scriptures. We are saved by grace, but we are judged by our works.

Protestant means churches that protest against the church in Rome. We don't count, as we didn't come from the Catholic, or any Protestant church.

Well, maybe because protestants don't believe if we're bigwigs in the church during our lives, like deacons, then we'll become little gods of other planets after death. The bible tells us the last will become first, and vice versa, so being a deacon shouldn't really get anyone any brownie points in heaven. I can't answer for all protestants, but I sure wouldn't want to become a little god of little planet when i die, I really have no desire to become a little god of anything. I don't want a mansion either, just a nice little cabin in the heavenly woods will be hunky dorey.

The Mormon religion was founded less than two hundred years ago by a man named Joseph Smith. He claimed to have received a personal visit from God the Father and Jesus Christ and was told that all churches and their creeds were an abomination. Joseph set out to impose a brand-new religion that claims to be the “only true church on earth.” The problem with Mormonism is that it contradicts, modifies, and expands on the Bible. Christians have no reason to believe that the Bible is not true and adequate. To truly believe in and trust God means to believe in His Word. And all Scripture is inspired by God, which means it comes from Him (2 Timothy 3:16).

Simply because we are not Protestant.

Most churches have roots in the Catholics, even the protestants.

As for us, we believe our LDS church was a restoration of what Jesus Christ has truly establish durng his minstry.

Because Protestant churches came out of the Protestant Reformation when people protested against things the Catholic Church was doing.

The Mormon Church came out of the psychotic delusions of a guy in New York in the 1830s who says Jesus came to his bedroom and showed him where there were golden plates buried under a tree in Palmyra New York which were understandably taken to heaven before anybody else could see them.

The Latter Day Saints do not see Christ as a part of the Holy Trinity. Therefore they do not see him as the son of God. They think you can be saved simply by worshipping Jehovah (God the Father) and bypassing salvation through Christ the Savior. Most Protestant churches are BASED on Salvation through Christ the Savior...see how their might be rift there??

Because, among other things, they add to the Holy Bible with the Book of Mormon. They acknowledge Jesus Christ...but many do not believe that faith in Christ alone is all that is needed for salvation. They unbiblically believe that there deeds and works somehow affect their favor with God. This is simply not true. Christ alone is the Way the Truth and the life; and, no one comes to the Father but through Christ.
